The meeting #623 was held on July 2nd at Hatobakaikan.
That was the first meeting under President I in this term.
He addressed the slogan of YTMC in this term.
” Enjoy Your Club and Enjoy Your Life”. 

There was no silent member in this meeting.
Everybody attended it, positively and actively.
TM H, TM A, and TM K did their first each role, and succeeded.
It is amazing.

Thank you all participants and all role takers.
I was very pleased as well as honored serve as TMOD in the first meeting, at my first TMOD.
We succeeded with TM veteran’s support.

第623回目ミーティングを7/2 に波止場会館で開催しました。
I会長になってからの初めてのミーティングです。
彼は今期のYTMCのスローガン「クラブを楽しむ、人生を楽しむ」についてスピーチをしました。

会議中に一言も発しないメンバーはいませんでした。
全員が、積極的に会議をもりあげました。
Hさん、Aさん、Kさんは今回、それぞれの役割が初めての経験でした。
素晴らしい！！

ありがとうございます。
今期最初の司会を初めてのTMODでやらせていただき光栄です。
ベテランの方々のアドバイスの基、会議を滞りなく遂行しました。

The meeting #622 was held on June 18th at Hatobakaikan.
That was the last meeting under President Nakanishi in this term.
The theme of this meeting, “What did you achieve in this term ?”.
And Word of the Day presented to use in the meeting, “Dedicate/Dedication”.

We had two big events:
One was Induction ceremony, “Welcome Mr. H in our club”
and the other, Installation for the new President and Officers for the next
term.

Educational sessions were as follows:
*Joke conducted by TM G was great fun and everyone laughed a lot.
 “English originates from Japanese”, Kill—-Kill（斬る）
*Table Topic by TM F was a two-alternative question.
 Ex, Which do you want to get, an ability to speak all languages or an
ability to communicate with animals ?
 Each question was pleased and fantastic and was easily answered.
*Prepared Speech
 Three speeches were all wonderful.
 TM H made a nice debut talking about herself before an audience.
 TM H did a speech having a great massage, “To whom would you speak ?”
 TM Y delivered a speech along to the objectives of the manual and took the
　best speaker’s prize.
*Evaluation by TM N ran smoothly.

この例会で二つの式典、入会式と次期役員就任式が執り行われました。

教育セッション：
＊　ジョークはTM Gが紹介した「英語は日本語から発生してる」の話は
　　なるほど納得の共通性が大いな笑いをとった。
＊　3つのスピーチはどれも素晴らしいものでした。
　　ＴＭ　Ｈはクラブで初スピーチ、わかり易い話ぶりで自己紹介をしました。
＊　総合論評は現プレジデントの最後のしごと。

” Do you want to be eternal youth and immortality?”
The meeting theme was little bit difficult.
Though, role takers answered meaningful comments.
In this half of year, I lost my parents. Members message encouraged me.
Of course, role takers performance were so wonderful. and General Evaluation was excellent.

Answers for theme are following.

1.My answer for the next theme is

“No I don’t. Because I think eternal life seems boring.
However, I want to live a long and healthy life.”

2.I don’t want to be. Because if I have the eternal youth and immortality, only I will stay young while my friends and family are getting old. Even my son will become older than me. It’s unacceptable for me!

3.My answer for this question is “NO”.
It must be sad if I lived forever without my family and friends.
However if all people could be eternal youth and immortality, I also want to be it together!

4.I want to know until when I can live.
Because, before I say good bye to this world, I want to say “thank you for everything” to all of my family and friends.

5.As a girl, I never like the idea of getting old, and of course living forever is great. However, if I am the only one to survive while my family and friends all pass away, life would be very hard. I will become very lonely and bore to die ( but can not). Therefore, I prefer a normal life as long as I am happy at every moment of it.

6.Yes, if possible.
I wish I have eternal youth and immortality, but I understand it is not realistic.
Therefore my substantial aim to my life is to live happily as long as possible.
I have been trying to make some physical and mental exercises and will keep on making them as long as I can in order to live happily.
I usually go to a fitness club and go for walking for a couple of hours on weekend for keeping my health well.
I am trying to use my brain to avoid dementia which may happen to me when I get older. To study English is one of the ways not to deteriorate my brain.
As another factor for living a life happily, I believe we need a certain objectives and a kind of self-satisfaction to our life. I am thinking of contributing to the society around me to some extent as one of my objectives after my retirement, for example.

7.Answer to your question
If it is applicable only me, of course, I want to have eternal youth and immortality.
If many people could have the eternal youth and immortality, we will face:
– Population problem, causing shortage of foods　
– Economy problem, causing the Immortal people must work for ever
interfaring real young peoples chances of promotion, advancement

YTMC regular meeting was held at Hatoba-Kaikan.
Then we had a special event
That was Rookie’s Mini Contest!!!
This contest was the last event that I give members as VPE.
Why did I plan such an event?
YTMC got many new members recently.
And they have a high motivation for giving speech.
I wanted to react their needs, but it was difficult to make it come true at a normal speech session.
That’s why, I planned this event.

Though three rookies couldn’t join this contest, four rookies gave their own speech with their own characters.
And TM T.N got first place with her favorite food “Spaghetti Meet Source”
TM N.W was second place. She got into tour guide of Sri lanka during her speech.

After the contest TM K.T gave a special tips session to us.
The theme was “Why YTMC?”
We chose YTMC among others.
More over many members belong to only YTMC
Why?
TM K.T asked members some questions about “Why YTMC?”
We could think of “Why YTMC?” each other.
That was a very nice session to know why members choose YTMC.

And I asked members the following question as TMOD.
“If you express YTMC in one word, which word is your best?”
My answer is “Serendipity”
YTMC attracts various people, and give us opportunities to meet them.
And members enhance their own skills eachother at YTMC.
What a wonderful club, isn’t it!!
I’m really glad I could find this club.
In the future, whom I can meet at YTMC? And what I can learn at YTMC?
I get excited when thinking about that!

The next meeting will be held on Jun 4th.
TMOD is our new President TM S.I!!

Greetings All,

On an optimal, warm and sunny spring day, we conducted the 2016/2017 Officer’s Election process.  The nomination committee did an optimal job finding nominees for each position and they were voted on and elected by all the present membership. 

Keeping with the election theme, we allowed Role Takers to become the Prime Minister letting me know what one thing they would change about Japan.  We had some very good ideas from all role takers, who would all make optimal Prime Ministers someday J

We had to leave Tips and the Joke session out but Table Topics was interesting as TM I asked questions about Artificial Intelligence (A.I.)  It was a rather difficult subject for the members chosen but they managed to put their Toastmasters skills to the test and come through with flying colours. 

The prepared speeches were all interesting with TM K taking best Speaker of the Day with some great advice about Stage Fright.  The performance wasn’t optimal but he did well to get over his stage fright and received some great tips from TM J.  We also heard about TM G explaining the origins of his name and our President N describing Toastmasters and what potential it has to make us better leaders and communicators.  He inspired us all with his CC Manual 10^th Speech and we should all congratulation him on his achievement of the Competent Communication Manual! 

TM K wrapped up the meeting with an optimal general evaluation and kept it kindly short as we were running out of time.  TM T performed the Grahco role for the first time and if you haven’t guessed already, the Word of the Day was “Optimal”.  We also had rookie role takers with TM K doing Vote Counter and TM T performing the Timer role. 

Thanks to all participants on making this meeting an optimal experience for myself and all members!  Please do join us again in a few weeks for our next meeting.

Greetings All,

There was no theme in this meeting, however, the theme might be “membership” as we welcomed again new members to our wonderful club.  In addition to many guests, we held an induction ceremony for two newcomers. Furthermore, two members attended this meeting after a long time away!! One member had taken a long time off to attend meetings because of childcare, and she attended this meeting with her 5-month-old baby!! Her baby’s smile was so cute and made us happy!!! The other member lives in Okayama because of his Japanese sweets shop. He attended this meeting for the first time in several years giving us a taste of Japanese sweets from his shop!!! It was so delicious!! Therefore, it was so crowded in the meeting room, but we could meet a lot of members.

 The theme of the table topics was “spring”. The questions were very relevant because Japanese tend to like and enjoy spring rather than other seasons. 

 We had 5 speeches which include one ice-breaker speech. All the speeches made us think about something. The first speech was about dress in our speech. The second about “brain training”, the third about “taxes”, the forth about human relationship, and the last one was about crisis management. They were very useful for us.

The beautiful season of cherry blossom has come! Did you have any cherry blossom viewing party in this year? On this day, we could enjoy a wonderful meeting while viewing a pretty cherry blossom that one of our members brought for this meeting! And the theme of the table topics was also “spring” and “cherry blossom”! We could enjoy “Spring” with many wonderful speeches.

 Anyway at this meeting we had 5 speakers and a special guest speaker from Yamanote TMC. Two members delivered ice-breaking speeches and two veteran members delivered beautiful personal stories of Toastmasters and interesting topics that let members think about “Vitalize Japan.”

In addition this, a special guest speaker from Yamanote TMC joined our meeting and delivered a powerful speech. He will join next division contest as a contestant. We do hope he will win!!

Greetings All!

YTMC conducted #615 meeting on March 5th at the Free Flat Nogeyama near by Nogeyama park.

March is a busy month in Japan because the fiscal year is ending this month.  However, many members and guests participated to enjoy the YTMC meeting together. 

The theme of the meeting was inspiration.  The Table topics questions were well aligned with this theme.  Through the questions, the table topics master, TM H let members reflect themselves on how they are achieving their individual goals.   

We had two ice-breaker speeches by newly joined members.  We learned a lot about a couple from Sri Lanka.  They are great additions to our club and will definitely give us new perspective. 

TM G talked about Light Pollution using some beautiful slides full of stars.  TM S with the help of TM K presented the speech project “Conquering Cold Call” from the advanced manual. 

We also had practice sessions for the Area Contest speakers.

During the business session, we had the pleasure of inducting 2 newest members TM K and TM N to YTMC.

Greetings all,

#614 regular meeting took place at Free Flat Nogeyama.
Though it was a rainy day, a lot of members and five guests gathered at the venue.

The theme of the meeting was “Speech Marathon!”. We focused on the prepared speech session as we have entered the Spring Contest Season and are sending three speakers to the Area Contest in March.
The word of the day presented by Grahco was “literally”.

First, we had an induction ceremony of TM S. Welcome TM S, we are delighted to have you!

The Table Topics Session was nicely delivered by TM I. The questions related to events held this time of the year, such as Setsubun (the close of winter),
Valentine’s Day and graduation ceremony.

Following was the main session with four powerful speakers.
TM K practiced his speech about his experience with a doctor. His style was improving even more.
TM F shared with the audience about the web design and how Yokohama TMC’s official website will change.
TM T introduce four ways to make reading your regular habit.
TM W touched upon what became her new habits from her job as a librarian. As you can see, we literally had a series of colorful and different speeches!

It was another splendid meeting and Yokohama Toastmasters learned a lot from each other by giving evaluation and comment sheet.
As TMOD, I love to see this chain of learning and everyone’s smiles spark as we encourage one another.
Can’t wait for the next meeting!

Greetings All, 

#611 regular meeting was held on January 9th at Hatoba Kaikan.

It was the first meeting of this year, and the theme of the meeting was “How was your winter holidays?”. All role takers spoke about their holidays before introducing their roles, and it was fun to hear.

Our president TM N told us about New year’s resolution,and swore to make our club more enjoyable and make new strategy to improve ourselves more!

We had a induction ceremony of TM K, it was grateful to start new year!

Both of presenters of Tips session and Joke session took the roles for the first time, and they succeeded their jobs! 

The Theme of Table Topic Session was “New year”. 5 speakers spoke about the new year’s resolution, new year’s greeting card and so on.

At prepared speech session, we had 3 speakers, and the contents were Dementia, Winter holiday, and Serendipity. Our new member TM K who joined our club in this meeting delivered his ice breaker speech! We’re proud of his courage! All evaluators and General Evaluator gave us ideas to improve our speech and meeting more!

 Anyway, we enjoyed our first meeting! Thank you all for a great meeting!
