Greetings All,

There was no theme in this meeting, however, the theme might be “membership” as we welcomed again new members to our wonderful club.  In addition to many guests, we held an induction ceremony for two newcomers. Furthermore, two members attended this meeting after a long time away!! One member had taken a long time off to attend meetings because of childcare, and she attended this meeting with her 5-month-old baby!! Her baby’s smile was so cute and made us happy!!! The other member lives in Okayama because of his Japanese sweets shop. He attended this meeting for the first time in several years giving us a taste of Japanese sweets from his shop!!! It was so delicious!! Therefore, it was so crowded in the meeting room, but we could meet a lot of members.

The theme of the table topics was “spring”. The questions were very relevant because Japanese tend to like and enjoy spring rather than other seasons.

We had 5 speeches which include one ice-breaker speech. All the speeches made us think about something. The first speech was about dress in our speech. The second about “brain training”, the third about “taxes”, the forth about human relationship, and the last one was about crisis management. They were very useful for us.

Thank you all and looking forward to seeing you at the next meeting!

Your TMOD!

Greetings All!

YTMC conducted #615 meeting on March 5th at the Free Flat Nogeyama near by Nogeyama park.

March is a busy month in Japan because the fiscal year is ending this month.  However, many members and guests participated to enjoy the YTMC meeting together.

The theme of the meeting was inspiration.  The Table topics questions were well aligned with this theme.  Through the questions, the table topics master, TM H let members reflect themselves on how they are achieving their individual goals.

We had two ice-breaker speeches by newly joined members.  We learned a lot about a couple from Sri Lanka.  They are great additions to our club and will definitely give us new perspective.

TM G talked about Light Pollution using some beautiful slides full of stars.  TM S with the help of TM K presented the speech project “Conquering Cold Call” from the advanced manual.

We also had practice sessions for the Area Contest speakers.

During the business session, we had the pleasure of inducting 2 newest members TM K and TM N to YTMC.

Welcome and see you all at the next meeting!

Greetings all,

#614 regular meeting took place at Free Flat Nogeyama.
Though it was a rainy day, a lot of members and five guests gathered at the venue.

The theme of the meeting was “Speech Marathon!”. We focused on the prepared speech session as we have entered the Spring Contest Season and are sending three speakers to the Area Contest in March.
The word of the day presented by Grahco was “literally”.

First, we had an induction ceremony of TM S. Welcome TM S, we are delighted to have you!

The Table Topics Session was nicely delivered by TM I. The questions related to events held this time of the year, such as Setsubun (the close of winter),
Valentine’s Day and graduation ceremony.

Following was the main session with four powerful speakers.
TM K practiced his speech about his experience with a doctor. His style was improving even more.
TM F shared with the audience about the web design and how Yokohama TMC’s official website will change.
TM T introduce four ways to make reading your regular habit.
TM W touched upon what became her new habits from her job as a librarian. As you can see, we literally had a series of colorful and different speeches!

It was another splendid meeting and Yokohama Toastmasters learned a lot from each other by giving evaluation and comment sheet.
As TMOD, I love to see this chain of learning and everyone’s smiles spark as we encourage one another.
Can’t wait for the next meeting!

Very Respectfully,

The 612th Meeting Report

Hello, everyone! I am TM I, I was the Toastmaster of the day at #612 meeting and I will report the second meeting of this year.

This meeting was a big event because this was the joint meeting with Minato-Mirai Toastmasters Club. Minato-Mirai Toastmasters Club is our sister club. We make a long standing relationship with this club. So this event was special for us. We had a lot of participants and guests. The atmosphere was enthusiastic and cheerful from the beginning.  The theme of the meeting was “ We love Yokohama”. I asked members’ thoughts about Yokohama beforehand. Because the home grounds of our clubs are here, Yokohama! Yes, I heard a lot of their interesting and sweet memories, recommended places + restaurants, playing spots, whatever!

Additionally, at the Table Topic Session, TM N asked questions regarding Yokohama from various dimensions. Their speeches were so unique with lots of laughs.  Don’t miss TM T from Minato-Mirai’s joke session. Coincidentally he took the third joke master at the Joint meeting with Yokohama Toastmasters. He must be destined to be a Joke Master when he was with us!!

At the main session, prepared speeches were well prepared and planned out. We could not help but be astonished at their styles, deliveries and contents as well.  Likewise the evaluators were equally up to providing high quality evaluation sessions.  The meeting was called to order by the President of Minato-Mirai TMC and adjourned by the President of Yokohama TMC. All support roles were taken by members of both clubs. It was really harmonious!

I am sure this joint meeting of two clubs was a great success as the word of the day “collaboration, collaborative and collaborate” indicated. Our collaboration would continue after the meeting…well, not just at the drinking party!

We had two prepared speakers and a workshop regarding to “Virtual Attendance”. An advanced speaker talked about her honorable TM’s story and other speaker delivered how to remember person’s name from her experience.
Two evaluators made good evaluations in suitable ways.

General evaluator evaluated the whole meeting in detail and gave us a lot of improvement. Thank you very much TM Y. She is excellent.
High motivated all guests told that they would come to new year regular meeting on January 9th in their guests comments. So let’s welcome them with warm heart.

Greetings All,

Our 608th Meeting had the theme of “My Favorite Book” and all role takers did well in sending the TMOD all their interesting books. The Word of the Day was a difficult one “Embolden” which was not used very well throughout the meeting. We have several 1st time guests as well.
We had an induction ceremony for a new member from Vietnam TM Th. She also performed her CC #1 Icebreaker Speech at this meeting. The Table Topics is always interesting and funny when TM Ma. does it and he didn’t disappoint us again with some tough questions.
In our Prepared Speech session, TM Ts. gave us insight into her actual job as an interpreter. TM Fu. explained to us how we can sell our skills online through the crowdsourcing initiative, which was very interesting and a new topic for many.
The General Evaluator TM Fr. took over after the break and reviewed in great detail the meeting even evaluating the Table Topics speakers. We finished with 3 beautiful ladies cleaning up the awards as you can see below.
Thank you all for a great meeting!

23_TMODandWinnersGreetings all,

The 607th meeting was held on November 7th, 2015.
2 guests joined us and we had a lively meeting.

The word of the day was “mitigate”.
And table topic session was about “Santa Claus”.
4 questions were all unique and enjoyable.
So we could “mitigate” our nervousness and relax!

About 3 prepared speeches, all speakers were women!
And the speeches had plenty of variety.

TM M.N. – Her 1st speech (Icebreaker)
TM W.Y. – Speech about “Leadership”
TM H.A. – Interpretive Reading

Especially, TM M.N. made the 1st speech as a new member of YTMC.
She introduced herself by a unique method, and got the prize “Best Speaker”.
Congratulations!

There was the special workshop about Division E Contest that was hosted by YTMC last month.
We could get impressions and opinions about the contest from both a contestant and committee members.
And it was useful for us to learn the importance of Toastmaster’s activities outside YTMC.

As TMOD, I realized that the meeting was made up of much support from the members.
And I’m very grateful to all the role takers, members, and the guests.

Next regular meeting will be held on Nov. 21st at Hatoba Kaikan.
See you at the next meeting!
