今日は久々に開港記念会館を会場として第８５３回の例会が始まりました。
横浜の観光地ともなっている歴史的な会場で例会ができることも横浜トーストマスターズ
クラブの強みですね。元メンバーを含めた５名のゲストをお迎えして、３０名の参加者で
す。

ここのところ、ゲストの方がたくさん来てくれて、とても盛り上がっています。
今日の言葉は”brilliant”です。歴史ある素敵な会場にはピッタリの言葉。きっとどんな場面
でも使いやすいと思うので、意識して使っていきましょう。
Today, our 853rd regular meeting was held at the Port Opening Memorial Hall for the first
time in a while.
Being able to hold meetings at this historic venue, which is also a Yokohama tourist spot, is
one of the strengths of the Yokohama Toastmasters Club. We welcomed five guests,
including former members, for a total of 30 participants.
Lately, we’ve had many guests joining us, making things very lively.
Today’s word is “brilliant.” It’s a perfect word for this beautiful, historic venue. I’m sure it’s
easy to use in any situation, so let’s consciously try to use it.
そして、この日の総合司会はTM　Tさん。経験豊富で、落ち着いた進行をしていただきま
した。テーマは「冬のスポーツ」。ちょうどオリンピック真っ最中。テレビで観戦してい
る人も多いでしょう。役割のある人たち、好きな冬のスポーツの話をシェアしながら進め
ていきましょう。
フィギュアスケートでの素晴らしいパフォーマンスを語る人、新しく始めたスポーツの話
をした人、様々なエピソードを聞くことができました。
And the Toastmaster of the day was TM T. With his wealth of experience, he kept things
running smoothly and calmly. The theme was “Winter Sports.” It was right in the middle of
the Winter Olympics. Many people were probably watching on TV. He moved the meeting
forward by having people share stories about their favorite winter sports.
We heard various stories: someone talking about amazing performances in figure skating,
someone sharing about a sport they’d just started, and many other episodes.
最初のセッション、テーブルトピックはTM　Nさんが担当。Nさんはタロットカードを使
った質問を用意していました。回答者がカードを選んで、そのカードに沿った質問をする
形式で、みんなドキドキです。道具を使ったテーブルトピックセッションはなんだか楽し
い雰囲気になりますね。何が聞かれるかわからないというのは、何年経験してもドキドキ
するものです。質問は以下のような内容でした。

The first session “table topic” was led by TM N. TM N had prepared questions using tarot
cards. Members selected a card and answered a question based on it—everyone was on
pins and needles. Table topic sessions using props always create such a fun atmosphere.
Not knowing what you’ll be asked keeps you excited no matter how many years you’ve
been doing this. The questions were along these lines:
1. What is the most defining turning point in your life?
2. If you were to keep some pets, what would you want to keep?
3. What do you do when you want to relax?

4. If you are planning a party, what kind of party do you want to hold?
5. When does the devil whisper to you?

 

続いて準備スピーチです。１人目のスピーカーTM　Mさんは、入会して初めてのアイスブ
レーキングスピーチ。自分の人生に影響を与えてくれた音楽や経験をシェアしてくれまし
た。自分がありのままであること、自分の自信を持つことの大切さをパワフルに語ってく
れました。初めてとは思えない堂々とした発表でした。
２人目のスピーカーTM Oさんは、小学生の時のバレンタインの経験を具体的に語ってく
れました。小さな女の子が年上の男の子に特別な感情を持ったお話をジェスチャーなどを
交えながら語る技は引き込まれるのもがありました。トーストマスターズらしい締めくく
り方も面白かったです。
３人目のスピーカーはTM Iさん。お父様が傷ついた鳥に出会って人生が変わっていった話
を、トーストマスターズのメンターメンティーな話に見事に繋げていました。人は動物か
らでも年下の人からでも、いつでも学ぶことができるんだと感じさせられました。
最後のスピーカーはTM　Sさん。AIは敵か味方か、というタイトルのもと、これからのAI
との生活がどうなっていくのか、４名のパネリストと共にディスカッションを進めていき
ました。今の段階では、AIうまく使えば私たちの生活が助かっている、でも、これからAI
が発展していった時に、人間が必要なくなってしまうのか、それともうまく共存していく
のか、５年後１０年後にまた同じテーマでやってみたいものですね！
Next up are the prepared speeches. Our first speaker, TM M, delivered her very first
icebreaker speech since joining. She shared the music and experiences that have shaped
her life. She powerfully conveyed the importance of being true to oneself and having self-
confidence. It was a remarkably poised presentation for a first-timer.
Our second speaker, TM O, vividly recounted her Valentines Day experience from
elementary school. Her skillful storytelling, complete with gestures, drew us in as she
described a young girl developing special feelings for an older boy. The Toastmasters-style
conclusion was also quite interesting.
The third speaker was TM I. She masterfully connected the story of her father encountering
an injured bird and how it changed his life to the Toastmasters mentor-mentee relationship.
It made us feel that people can learn from animals, from younger people, anytime.
The final speaker was TM S. Under the title “Is AI Friend or Foe?”, she led a discussion
with four panelists about how our lives with AI will unfold. At this stage, AI is helping our
lives when used well. But as AI advances, will humans become unnecessary, or will we
coexist successfully? I’d love to revisit this same theme in five or ten years!

そして、総合論評はTM Tさん。落ち着いたスムーズな進行で進みました。そして論評する
メンバーも的確な内容でさすが！今日はどのセッションでも時間切れに人がでなかったこ
ともまた素晴らしいですね。タイムマネージメントはとても大切な要素です。総合司会の
Tさんの進行も素晴らしく、例会全体もスケジュール通りに進みました。
例会がとてもスムーズに進んだこと、とても嬉しいです。来週の日曜日はエリアコンテス
トがあり、私たちのクラブからも４名おコンテスタントが出場します。みんなで応援に行
って、盛り上げましょう！！ゲストの方も大歓迎ですので、楽しく一緒に過ごしませんか

And the overall commentary was by TM T. The session proceeded smoothly and calmly.
The members providing commentary also delivered spot-on content—truly impressive! It
was also wonderful that no session ran over time today. Time management is a crucial
element. The overall moderation by T was excellent, and the entire meeting proceeded

according to schedule.

I’m very happy the meeting went so smoothly. Next Sunday is the Area Contest, and four
contestants from our club will be participating. Let’s all go cheer them on and get the crowd
going!! Guests are also very welcome, so why not join us for a fun time together? We look

Bug(Fukubukuro)」、新年一回目の会合にふさわしいトピックです。そして会場は波止場会
館の４F, 素晴らしい天気で窓から横浜の海と豪華客船を見ながらの会合となりました。

The Toastmaster of the Day was TM U. The meeting theme was “Luckey Bug
(Fukubukuro),” a fitting topic for the first meeting of the new year. The venue was the 4th
floor of the Harbor Hall. With splendid weather, we enjoyed the meeting while gazing out
the windows at Yokohama's sea and the luxury cruise ships.

テーブルトピックセッションの担当はTM Oでした。コンテストが近いために、コンテス
ト形式で行われました。すべての参加者に同じ題をだすのです。５名の参加者を指名して
、場外にでてもらった後に提示されたお題は「What is your favorite way to relax?」。比較
的に答えやすいお題です。

The Table Topics session was led by TM O. With the contest approaching, it was conducted
in a contest format. All participants were given the same topic. After five participants were
selected and asked to step outside, the topic presented was “What is your favorite way to
relax?” It was a relatively easy topic to answer.

１人づつ入場してお題が知らされます。ＴＭ　Ｏは読書、ＴＭ　Ｎは映画、ＴＭ　Ｔ　は草取り
、ＴＭ　Ｉはお風呂、とそれぞれ人柄を感じさせる発表です。結果的に優勝したＴＭ　Ｔは配
偶者が大病から戻ってきた日常への感謝をスピーチされました。

Each participant entered one by one and was given a topic. TM O's was reading, TM N's
was movies, TM T's was weeding, and TM I's was bathing—each announcement revealing
something about their character. Ultimately, the winner, TM T, gave a speech expressing
gratitude for the everyday life she shared with her spouse, who had recovered from a
serious illness.

つづいて準備スピーチ。ＴＭ　Ａはマンションの掃除をしていただいている方から感じた「
ありがとう」という言葉の大切さ。ＴＭ　Ｋは展示会出展で経験したリーダーと部下の期待
の違いとリーダーの柔軟性の大事さ。ＴＭ　Ｍは、コンビニの仕事で経験したコミュニケー
ションのむつかしさと気づきをあたえる重要さ。ＴＭ　Ｏは、カナダへの移住を前に経験し
たカナダにおける医療の現状と日本との比較。　を話されました。どの話も実際の深い経
験に基づくスピーチでした。

Next, prepared speeches. TM A spoke about the importance of the word “thank you,” felt
from the person cleaning their apartment. TM K spoke about the difference in expectations
between leaders and subordinates experienced while exhibiting at a trade show, and the
importance of a leader's flexibility. TM M discussed the difficulty of communication
experienced while working at a convenience store and the importance of providing
awareness. TM O shared about the current state of healthcare in Canada and its
comparison to Japan, experienced before moving to Canada. Each speech was based on
deep, real-life experiences.

新年早々の例会でしたが、出席者は30名近く、部屋の３人掛けの机が完全に埋まるほどで
した。新入会員の入会式もあり、またゲストが４名来ており、非常ににぎわった会合とな

すばらしい新年第１回目の会合となりました。
Despite being the first meeting of the new year, nearly 30 members attended, completely
filling the room's three-person tables. With a new member induction ceremony and four
guests in attendance, it was a very lively gathering. Thanks to the calm and steady
leadership of TM H as TM of the Day and TM F as General Evaluator, it was a wonderful
first meeting of the new year.

The year’s final meeting was held with the theme “Moments of Joy and Warmth,” centered on Christmas. A former member from 20 years ago joined online, while a third-time guest attended in person. Before the start, members and role holders decorated the venue and wore Christmas-colored sweaters, reindeer headbands, Santa hats, and red reindeer noses—one even in a horse bodysuit with a reindeer hat—creating a cheerful and warm atmosphere as the meeting began.

今年最後のミーティグは「喜びと温もりのひととき」をテーマに、クリスマスを中心に開催されました。20年前に入会した元メンバーはオンラインで参加し、3回目のゲストは来場しました。開始前から会場を飾り付け、メンバーや役割担当者は赤や緑のセーターにトナカイのカチューシャやサンタ帽子、赤いトナカイの鼻を身につけ、なかには馬のボディスーツにトナカイ帽子のメンバーもいて^.^、笑顔あふれる明るく温かな雰囲気の中、例会が始まりました。

The meeting began with a greeting and business session led by President TM M. Former President TM A reported that the Yokohama Toastmasters Club received the Select Distinguished Club Award for last year, an award recognizing the club’s strong performance and consistent support of member development.
例会は、President TM Mによる挨拶とビジネスセッションから始まりました。前会長のTM Aより、横浜トーストマスターズクラブが昨年度、メンバーの成長を継続的に支えてきた取り組みとクラブ運営の成果が評価され、セレクト・ディスティングイッシュド・クラブ・アワードを受賞したことを報告しました。

＜Word of the Day＞
TM T introduced “Joyful” as the Word of the Day, talking about how important joy is during the festive season. He mentioned his favorite band, Ikimonogakari, and said that joy is contagious, encouraging everyone to use “joyful” to make the day brighter.

TM Tは「Joyful」をWord of the Day（本日の単語）として紹介し、祝祭の季節に喜びが大切だと話しました。お気に入りのバンド、いきものがかりの音楽にも触れながら、喜びは伝染すると述べ、みんなも「joyful」という言葉を使って一日を明るくしようと呼びかけました。

It was a fun and heartwarming activity that got everyone involved.

TM A delivered her speech following the Leadership Excellence Series guidelines, skillfully playing two characters with poise and depth. She highlighted the importance of understanding the objectives of her subordinate and explained three key steps: Learn Objectives, Observe Performance, and Provide Immediate Feedback. Her speech emphasized how these steps contribute to effective feedback and support team growth. It was practical, insightful, and engaged the audience with thoughtful humor.

2nd Speaker – TM J: Should I stay or Should I go?
TM J reflected on his 8 years in Japan, which had been filled with adventures and personal growth, but also heartache and missed connections. He shared the internal struggle of deciding whether to stay or leave, feeling both free and disconnected. Ultimately, he announced that that day was his last meeting, and he was going home. -We will miss you, and we sincerely appreciate all you have contributed to YTMC. Your speeches have inspired and taught us all. We sincerely wish you all the best in the new journey ahead.
TM Jは、日本での8年間を                      冒険と自己成長に満ちものとして振り返りつつ、心の葛藤や失われた繋がりも感じていることを語りました。彼は「留まるべきか、去るべきか」という決断に悩む中、自由でありながらも孤独を感じていることを共有しました。最終的に今日が最後の会となり、帰国することを伝えました。

3rd Speaker – TM T: Moments of Joy, Warmth, and a Bad Haircut
TM T talked about how small, seemingly insignificant things can have a big impact on our happiness.
He realized that the little details we usually overlook can actually make a major difference in our relationships.
He also came to understand that joy can arise from the ordinary, everyday moments that may not appear logical at first glance.

TM Tは、小さな細かいことが、幸せに大きな影響を与えることを話しました。
普段気づかないような小さなことが、実は関係に大きな違いをもたらすことがあるんだということに気づかされました。喜びは、たとえ一見理屈に合わないと思える日常の何気ない瞬間からも生まれると気づいたそうです。

4th Speaker – TM I: I went Jiro
A big thank you to TM I for graciously filling in as a last-minute substitute. 急な予定変更にも関わらず、快く代役を務めてくださったTM Iさん、ありがとうございます。
For today’s Evaluation and Feedback, TM I used a past speech topic. TM I treated going to Ramen Jiro like a big adventure or a game, describing the experience almost like a novel. Through exaggerations and vivid metaphors—like the giant frog, magma, and the smell of oil and garlic. The speech showed the importance of preparation, patience, courage, and enjoying small moments. It was an impressive speech that mixed humor and insight.
本日のEvaluation and Feedbackでは、TM Iは過去のスピーチの題材を使いました。TM Iはラーメン二郎に行くことを大きな冒険やゲームのように捉え、その体験をほとんど小説のように描写しました。巨大なカエルやマグマ、油とニンニクの匂いのような誇張や鮮やかな比喩を通して、準備の大切さ、忍耐力、勇気、そして日常の小さな喜びに気づくことの重要性を伝えていました。ユーモアと洞察が見事に融合した、印象的なスピーチでした。

After a 10-minute break, the assigned Evaluators gave feedback on each speech. They identified strengths and areas for improvement, sometimes agreeing with own impressions and sometimes offering different perspectives. Today’s Evaluator comments also offered many new insights and perspectives, making it a great opportunity to broaden our thinking.

10分の休憩をはさんで、事前に担当を割り当てられたEvaluatorが各スピーチにフィードバックを行いました。良いところや改善点をはっきり教えてくれて、自分と同じ意見のときもあれば、違う視点からの指摘もありました。今日のEvaluatorのコメントも、新しい気づきや視点が多く、私たちの考えを広げる良い機会になりました。

Today’s awards had a special twist: “The Top of the Nice List,” an award for someone truly deserving Santa’s top spot on the Nice List. Cue the drumroll ♪… and here comes TM T ^.^

＜Opening＞
The day was blessed with pleasant weather, and the autumn leaves of the ginkgo trees
along Nihon-odori, on the way to the Hatoba Kaikan, were really beautiful.
Today’s TMOD is the legendary queen TM A. The meeting theme is “Thanks and Giving”
From the members, some shared touching and impressive stories about their family, such
as their wife and husband. It was truly heartwarming.
Today’s word is “prone.” It’s not a very familiar word, but it’s actually often useful in daily
life.
For example, members can use it to say, “I am prone to getting nervous when speaking in
public.”
But at YTMC, everyone enjoys speaking without getting nervous!
Today we also had an induction ceremony, welcoming a new member TM M. We are
delighted to have him join us. We hope you enjoy your journey at YTMC!

＜開会＞
この日は心地よい好天で、波止場会館までの日本大通りの銀杏並木の紅葉が美しい。本日
のTMODはYTMCのレジェンド TM A。今日のテーマは「感謝することと、与えること」。
メンバーの中には、妻や夫など家族に関する具体的な感謝の気持ちを回答をしてくれた人
がいました。とても温かい気持ちになりますね。
今日の言葉は “prone” 。あまり馴染みがない言葉ですが、実は日常でもよく使います。
例えば、メンバーの方は、「人前でスピーチすると緊張しがちだ」と言うときに使えます
。
でも YTMCでは皆さんそう言いながら緊張せずに楽しんでいますね！
この日は、入会式があり新しいメンバーが１人加わりました。新メンバーの加入は嬉しい

<Table Topics Session >
This time, our Table Topics Master was first-timer TM F. Even though it was her debut, she
was surprisingly confident, and the session ran very smoothly. The questions she selected
fit perfectly with today’s meeting theme, creating a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere.
There were 4 questions as follows:
Q1 What small moment from this week are you most thankful for, and why?   (answered by

The answers were full of variety, the respondents shared everyday gratitude toward his
busy wife, appreciation for a cabin attendant who helped her when she forgot her backpack
while traveling, thankfulness for Japanese customs they had learned, to gratitude for
making the right decision even after drinking too much on a freezing day in Sapporo.
Listening to everyone’s thank you stories made the session really warm and enjoyable.

い落ち着いていて、とてもスムーズな進行でした。彼女が選択された質問も今日のテーマ

＜準備スピーチ＞
今回は4名のスピーカーが登場し、それぞれが個性たっぷりのスピーチを披露してくれま
した。どのスピーチも違った魅力があって、聞いていて飽きないラインナップでした。
The first speaker, Mr. Ribbon, TM T.
He delivered a powerful speech, using the whole stage widely. Through his conversation
with his daughter, he expressed how she changed from a “coach” to a “mentor” in his life. It
was a truly heartwarming story. Hope they continue their wonderful relationship, staying on
her good side!
最初のスピーカーはTM T。
ステージを大きく使ったパワフルなスピーチでした。愛娘さんとの会話を通して、娘さん
が彼の中で「コーチ」から「メンター」へと成長していく姿が伝わってくる、とても心温
まる内容でした。これからも素敵な関係を続けてくださいね。
The second speaker, Mr. Uniqueness, TM N
This time, we had presentations on his “bucket list.” Using a nostalgic style of The Best-ten
which was a popular weekly music tanking TV show, the ten goals were introduced one by
one, making it a fun and humorous speech.

The Number one was “becoming an actor.” With his unique character, he really seemed like
he could achieve it.
２人目のスピーカーはＴＭ Ｎ。
今回は「人生でやりたいことリスト」の発表がありました。昔懐かしいベストテン方式で
、10個のやりたいことがテンポよく紹介されていき、聞いていてワクワクするスピーチで
した。そして堂々の1位は「俳優になること」。あのユニークなキャラを持つ彼なら、本
当に実現してしまいそうだな…と思わせる説得力がありました。
The third speaker, Mr. YTMC, TM T
He shared a warm and heart-touching story about giving up his childhood dream of
becoming an astronaut because of his glasses. Now, he’s a futon craftsman, working hard
in his wife’s family business and approaching each day with a positive sprit.
３人目のスピーカーはTM T
宇宙飛行士になるのをあきらめた“眼鏡”にまつわる話。子どもの頃の夢は宇宙飛行士。で
も、その夢をあきらめるきっかけになったのは、眼鏡の存在。
でも、今は奥様の実家の布団作りの仕事に挑戦して、楽しみながら日々チャレンジしてい
る、というユーモアも交えた温かいお話でした。
The fourth speaker, Mr. Last-Minute, TM O
He shared a story about getting high blood pressure and how his “friend,” ChatGPT, helped
him manage it. Fortunately, his blood pressure went down, and he felt relieved.
It’s amazing that we now live in a time when AI can even help with our health.
Please take good care of　your health.

高血圧になった話と、そのときに彼の“友人”である ChatGPT がケアしてくれたというエピ
ソード。結果的に血圧が下がってひと安心。AIに健康相談までできる時代が来たなんて、
本当に驚きでした。どうかこれからも健康には気をつけてくださいね。
<Evaluation Session>
One of the key sessions of TMC is the evaluation session. TM K chaired the session after a
long time, but he ran it so smoothly and steadily that it hardly seemed like he hadn’t done it
in a while.
On this day, four evaluators provided constructive feedback for each speaker. Each of them
carefully pointed out both the strengths and rooms for improvement of the speakers,
delivering warm and thoughtful feedback that truly reflected the theme of “Thanks and
Giving.”
＜論評＞
TMCの魅力のひとつ、論評セッション。司会を務めたのは久しぶりのTM Kさんでしたが
、久々とは思えないほどスムーズで安定した進行ぶりはさすがでした。
この日は、それぞれ４人の論評者が各スピーカーについて建設的な論評をしてくださいま
した。皆さん、それぞれのスピーカーの良い点や改善点を丁寧に指摘し、まさに「感謝す
ることと、与えること」にふさわしい、心温まるフィードバックが印象的でした。

この日も有意義で心温まる例会でした。「感謝することと、人に与えること」を実感でき
るひとときでした。
横浜トーストマスターズは毎月第1週と第3週に例会を開催しています。興味のある方はぜ

この日の司会者（Toastmaster of the Day）はTM Iでした。例会のテーマは「どんな未来を
デザインしたいですか？」TM Iの２週間前の大阪万博についてのスピーチと関連したテー
マでした。このテーマはとても刺激となる楽しいもので、今回の例会も大成功、思      い出に
残るものとなりました。
美しい天気だったので、メンバーの多くは波止場会館の会場からの景色を楽しんでいまし
た。
Toastmaster of the Day for this meeting was TM I. The meeting theme was “What future do
you want to design?” This meeting theme was connected to TM I’s speech two weeks
before this meeting, about the Osaka Expo. This theme was a really inspiring and fun one,
which made this meeting successful and memorable.
As it was a beautiful day, many members were enjoying the view from the Hatobakaikan
meeting room.
例会は提示で始まり、テーブルトピックセッションの担当はTM Jでした。TM Jは例会テー
マと関連するトピックを選択され、全ての質問が「あなたの理想の～を説明してください
（describe your ideal ~）」となっていました。質問は以下のとおりです：
1. 理想の家を説明してください（回答者はTM N.S）。
2. 理想の世界を説明してください（回答者はTM A）。
3. 理想の上司を説明してください（回答者はMさん）。
4. 理想の休暇を説明してください（回答者はTさん）。
5. 理想の自分を説明してください（回答者はTM T）。
TMODであるTM Iは、TM Jの質問のチョイスに、「まさに自分がYTMCメンバーに聞きた
かったこと！」と感動されていました。
The meeting started on time, and the Table Topic session was led by TM J. TM J chose
topics which align the meeting theme, and the questions were all in the format of “describe
your ideal ~.” The questions were as follows:
1. Describe your ideal home (answered by TM N.S).
2. Describe your ideal world (answered by TM A).
3. Describe your ideal boss (answered by Mr. M).
4. Describe your ideal vacation (answered by Ms. T).
5. Describe your ideal you (answered by TM T).
The TMOD TM I was really excited that TM J chose these questions, saying that these
questions was exactly what he wanted to ask the YTMC members.
この日は、4つのプリペアド・スピーチが行われました。
This day, there were four prepared speeches.
最初のスピーチはTM Tによって行われました。TM Tの初めてのスピーチです。初めての
スピーチにも関わらず、面白く、みんなが楽しめるスピーチでした。TM Tは彼の人生につ
いて写真をたくさん載せたパワーポイントを使いながら話されました。子供時代、学校時
代、大学時代、そして新卒入社当時などの写真を見せてくださいました。これはとても楽
しかったです、知り合いの写真を見るのはいつでも楽しいですよね！TM Tのプライバシー
にも配慮したいため、スピーチの内容を説明するのが難しいのですが、とても面白いスピ
ーチだったので、ここで説明できないのが残念です！
The first speech was delivered by TM T. This was his ice breaker speech. Although it was
his first speech, it was a fun speech enjoyable for everyone! TM T shared the story of his

life, using PowerPoint slides with many photos on them. He showed us photos from his
childhood, schooldays, university days, and early company life. This was exciting, because
it is always fun to see photos of people you know! It is hard to explain the content of his
speech, because the writer wants to take into account TM T’s privacy, but this is such a
shame because it was a fun speech!
二番目のスピーチはTM Oによって行われました。TM Oは、思春期のお顔のニキビが超外
向的な子供だった彼を内気なティーンエイジャーに変えてしまったこと、そしてお顔から
ニキビが消えて綺麗な肌になってもコミュニケーションをとることに苦労したことについ
て話してくださいました。そして、この苦労を彼のメンターと出会ったことで乗り越えら
れます。すばらしいコミュニケーション能力をお持ちのTM Oなので、そのような期間が
あったことに驚かされました！
The second speech was delivered by TM O. He shared his story of how having acne on his
face during puberty changed himself from a hyper outgoing child to a reserved teenager,
and how he still struggled to communicate with others even after he got back his beautiful
skin. He overcame this through his encounter with his mentor. The writer was surprised that
he suffered through such a period, because he is such a fantastic communicator!
TM Fは三番目のスピーチをされました。彼女はメンバーに武田信玄の名言をご紹介くださ
いました。「一生懸命だと知恵が出る、中途半端だと愚痴が出る、いい加減だと言い訳が
出る」というものです。そして、この名言が自分の人生をすっかり変えたことを説明して
くださいました。彼女がいうには、この名言を知る前は、やってみて失敗することを避け
ていることに目をつぶっていたとのこと。しかし、この名言を知って、自分が尊敬する人
々も魔法のように全てを知っているわけではなく、努力しているのだと気づいたそうです
。それからは、「言い訳するのをやめて自分に疑問を持つようにした」とのことです。こ
のスピーチでは、TM Fの誠実なアプローチと学ぶ姿勢がにじみでていました-みんなに出
来ることではありません！
TM F delivered the third speech. She introduced us the saying by Shingen Takeda:
“When you are serious, you get wisdom. When you are halfway, you complain. When you
are careless, you make excuses.” She shared with us how this saying changed her life
totally – before she came to know this saying, she used to be blind for the unwillingness to
try and fail. However, through this saying, she discovered how people she admired didn’t
magically know everything. They made effort. She said she “stopped making excuses and
started questioning myself”. This speech showed us TM F’s sincere attitude towards
everything and her willingness to learn – not something everyone can do.
最後に、TM Tがその日最後のスピーチをされました。TM Tはご自身がYTMCに入って6カ
月のときにオフィサーの役割を引き受けられたときのことをお話してくださいました。そ
の時は、オフィサーとしての一年を通じて、当時のYTMCのメンバーがサポートしてくだ
さったそうです。そして、TM Tは、良いリーダーとは、全てを一人で背負う人ではなく、
重荷を、そして喜びを共有する人なのだと気づかれたそうです。とても刺激となるスピー
チでした。
Finally, TM T delivered the final speech of the day. TM T told us about how she accepted a
officer job after six months after joining YTMC. She shared with us how her fellow member
at that time supported her throughout the year as an officer – TM T discovered that a good
leader is not someone who carries everything alone, but someone who shares the load and
also the joy. This was such an inspiring speech.

 

休憩の後に、評価セッションがありました。最初の評価者はTM Tで、長年のご友人である
TM Tの評価をされました。とても暖かい、ユーモアを交えた、友人ならではの評価スピー
チでした。2人目の評価者はTM Sで、TM Oのスピーチを評価されました。とても柔らかい
トーンで話されながら、役立つアドバイスもしていらっしゃいました。3人目の評価者は
TM Iで、TM Fのスピーチを評価されました。全体的にやる気を掻き立てるような評価スピ
ーチで、TM Fのスピーチに深く共感していらっしゃいました。最後の評価者はTM Tで
、TM Tのスピーチを評価されました。ゴールを明確に定義するところから始められ、パワ
フルな評価をされていました。総合評価者のTM Oは、とても丁寧な評価をされ、なんと
ウェブサイト・レポーターにまで触れてくださいました！（ありがとうございます！）
After the break, we had the evaluation session. The first evaluator was TM T, who
evaluated his longtime friend, TM T. He evaluated his friend’s speech with a warm tone,
using a lot of humour. The second evaluator was TM S, evaluating TM O’s speech. She
spoke with a soft, nice tone, yet she gave clear useful advice. The third evaluator was TM I,
evaluating TM F’s speech. She gave an overall very motivating evaluation speech,
empathizing strongly with TM F’s speech. The final evaluator was TM T, evaluating TM T’s
speech. He started by defining goals clearly, giving a powerful evaluation. The general
evaluator, TM O, gave a very thorough evaluation, even mentioning the website
reporter!(Thank you!)

Toastmaster of The Day for this meeting is TM I. As Halloween is approaching, our club
celebrated the spirit of Halloween by decorating the venue and wearing costumes during
the meeting. Several of our members even brought snacks to enjoy!
Two guests for this meeting complimented our venue decoration and the hospitality of our
club members, which brought a lot of joy to us.

本日の司会(Toastmaster of The day)はTM Iが務めました。近づいているハロウィンを祝う
ために、YTMCは会議室を飾ったり、メンバーもハロウィン衣装を着ていました。一部の
メンバーはハロウィン菓子も持ってきてくれました！二人のゲストも会議室の飾りとメン
バーのおもてなしをほめてくれたので、とてもうれしかったです。

The meeting started on time, and Table Topic session is led by Toastmaster A. She was
very dedicated to the club and decided to revise her vacation schedule to attend the regular
meeting! These were the questions chosen by her:

定例会は定時通り開始され、テーブルトピックスを担当したのはＴＭ I でした。定例会に参
加するために、TM I は自身のバケーション予定を調整してくれました！TM Iが準備した質

Today, there were 4 prepare speech.
First speech was delivered by TM I. He gave a speech about his experience of Kansai
Expo, his thoughts and additional information about Expos. He needed to deliver at least 18
mins of speech, and he was very successful at it. He prepared his script very well and had
powerpoint slides to compliment his speech.
Second speech was delivered by TM T. He also needed to deliver at least 18 mins speech,
and he delivered a speech about his relationship with his father. He opened the speech
with a mini drama – he even prepared props for his speech! His speech was very
heartwarming and he captured audience attention just by his speech.

TM N delivered the third speech. TM N attended online; it was very interesting to see him
delivered his speech with background of photos of the event he attended. He delivered a
speech about his experience and what he learnt from Yacht event, Friendship Regatta in
Hayama.
Finally, TM T delivered the final speech of the day. TM T gave a powerful speech about his
motivation for Toastmasters club; He invited laughter from the crowd by sharing his shock
about best speaker results for his previous prepared speech.

本日は４名がスピーチを披露してくださいました。
最初のスピーチはTM Iが担当されました。関西万博で体験したこと、感じたことや万博に
関する知識についてスピーチしてくれました。最低18分のスピーチでしたが、見事に対応
されました。スピーチの万全な準備と内容を保管するための様々な写真がとても面白かっ
たです。
次のスピーチはTM Tが担当されました。初回スピーチ同様、TM Tのスピーチも最低18分
のプロジェクトでした。TM Tはちょっとした芝居でスピーチをはじめ、お父様との関係に
ついてお話されました。とても心温かいスピーチで、スピーチの内容だけで聞き手を魅了
されました。
TM Nは３回目のスピーチを披露されました。TM Nはオンラインより参加されており、動
画配信者のように、背景に写真を流しながらスピーチされ、とても面白かった。TM Nは船
のイベント、葉山のFriendship Regattaで体験したことや学んだことを話してくれました。
最後はTM Tのスピーチになります。 TM Tは力強くToastmasterへのモチベーション
について話してくれて、前回のスピーチした際にベストスピーカーの結果を聞いた瞬間の
ショックは全員から笑いを誘いました。

It was a downhill day, but luckily today’s meeting was at a venue that was accessible from the station without getting wet.
The meeting started with an induction ceremony to welcome our new member.
It was a passionate ceremony that blew away the gloomy weather.
天気が下り坂な日でしたが、ラッキーなことに今日の例会は駅から濡れずに行ける会場でした。
例会は新しいメンバーをお迎えするインダクションセレモニーでスタート。
ぐずつく天気を吹き飛ばしてくれるような情熱的なセレモニーになりました。

It always elates us to have new members.

ELATE　意気揚々とさせる、喜ばせるという意味のことばです。

TMOD has chosen “Jokes” as the theme. Toastmasters is a place to challenge yourself. It’s a place to practice, where you don’t have to worry if you don’t get it right.
We can talk about our own experiences or introduce jokes from famous people. One TM spent four hours crafting a storyboard show!

【Table Topic】
Table Topic master TM U asked questions about “laughter” that fit the meeting theme. The questions are listed below, and we encourage everyone reading this to think about your answers.

例会テーマに合わせた「笑い」についてのお題を出してくれました。以下に質問を掲載しますので、これを読まれているみなさんもぜひ回答を考えてみてくださいね。

【Prepared speech】
The first speaker TM S, gave a learned speech about the usefulness of daily habits and the dangers when they break down, based on his experience of dropping his wallet while boarding a train abroad.

The second TM I started off with a humorous start and then demonstrated her technique of shifting roles of confidence by spinning around on the spot. It was a very good technique as the audience could easily understand the situation.
It was a great speech that started humorously and ended seriously.

The third speaker, TM S, was a sequel to the previous speech. He was careful not to leave anyone behind by including a summary of his previous speech in the introduction of his speech. Although the storyline was a bit frustrating during the speech, it ended with a happy ending and the audience seemed relieved.

The fourth TM O gave a speech about Halloween costumes, which is perfect for this time of the year. This was the first time she used slides in her speech, but it was well prepared and the pictures helped the audience to visualize the event. She talked about how she learned from an event that seemed to be just a small event.

【スピーチ】
今回は4名がスピーチを披露してくれました。
1人目のTM Sは海外で電車に乗る際に財布を落とした経験から、日々の習慣の有用性とそれが綻んでしまった際の危うさについて、学びのあるスピーチを披露してくれました。

2人目のTM Iはユーモアあふれるスタートに始まり、その場でくるりと回転することで自身の役割を転換するというテクニックを見せてくれました。聴衆も状況が分かりやすく、とてもよい技法だったと思います。
ユーモアたっぷりなまま終わると見せて最後はシリアスにまとめ上げた素晴らしいスピーチでした。

3人目のTM Sは前回のスピーチの続編でした。スピーチの導入部に前回のスピーチの概要を入れ込むことで、誰も置いていかれないような配慮がされていました。途中はらはらさせられるストーリー展開でしたが、最後はハッピーエンディングを迎え、聴衆がほっとしている様子も見られました。

4人目のTM Oは、この時期にぴったりなハロウィンコスチュームに関するスピーチを披露しました。初めてスライドを使用してのスピーチでしたが、よく準備されていて、写真があることでイメージも湧きやすくなりました。ただのイベントの一つのようにみえる出来事からも学びがあったと話してくれました。

Opening
The meeting was led by Toastmaster of the Day, TM. T.
He set the atmosphere by transforming the meeting room into an “airplane cabin.” His opening was styled as an airline announcement:

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard! Our aviation time will be around two hours. Please enjoy your flight.”

One of the great things about YTMC is that members easily follow and adapt to the theme. Some even came dressed as flight attendants, while others added humor by making in-character comments such as:

“Attention please, and fasten your seatbelt!”

The presence of seven guests added even more excitement, and they actively joined the “flight,” contributing to the lively atmosphere.

今例会の司会（Toastmaster of the Day）は TM.T が務めました。
会場を「飛行機のキャビン」に見立て、航空会社のアナウンス風に開会の言葉を述べました。

「皆さま、ご搭乗ありがとうございます。本日のフライト時間は約2時間です。どうぞ快適な空の旅をお楽しみください。」

横浜トーストマスターズクラブの素晴らしい点は、メンバーがテーマにすぐ順応し、雰囲気を一緒に盛り上げることです。客室乗務員の格好をして参加するメンバーもいれば、

「Attention please, and fasten your seatbelt!（ご注意ください、シートベルトをお締めください！）」
とアナウンス風にコメントするメンバーもいました。

さらに今回は 7名のゲスト が参加し、例会を一層活気あるものにしてくれました。

Table Topics
Table Topics Master: TM. I.

TM. I introduced the book “Skyfaring” and shared his experiences traveling around the world.

He described adventures in Greece and Egypt, recalling the thrill of arriving late at night in foreign lands, full of unexpected discoveries.

His stories inspired members to reflect on their own “first trip” and travel memories.

One of the most memorable Table Topics came from our guest, TM. T.

The question was: “When you see your hometown from the sky, what kind of feeling will you have?”

TM. T gave a very romantic answer, recalling a night flight from Fukuoka to Osaka.

From the window he admired the beautiful night views of each city, and when he finally saw the lights of his hometown, Okayama City, he felt it looked small compared to the major cities.

Yet, to him, it was shining just as brightly. In that moment, he deeply re-admired his hometown, realizing its beauty and value once again.

書籍 『Skyfaring』 を紹介し、世界各地を旅した体験を共有しました。

ギリシャやエジプトで夜遅くに到着した時の冒険談を語り、会員に「自分の最初の旅」について考えさせるきっかけとなりました。

特に印象的だったのは、ゲストのT TMの回答です。

質問は: 「空から自分の故郷を見たとき、どんな気持ちになりますか？」

T TMは、福岡から大阪への夜間フライトを回想しました。窓から各都市の夜景を眺め、最後に岡山市の光を見た時、その規模は大都市に比べ小さいものの、同じように美しく輝いていることに気づきました。

その瞬間、改めて故郷を誇らしく思い直したと語り、会場を感動させました。

Prepared Speeches
There were four prepared speakers, each delivering unique and inspiring speeches:

TM. Q – From Kamakura to the U.S.: A Life of Learning and Dreams

An Ice Breaker speech filled with passion, recounting her youth in Kamakura, her dream of becoming a global communicator, her journey of learning English, and life abroad. Her story was like a personal novel, inspiring and heartfelt.

TM. T – It Will Be a Funny Story with Time

A challenging assignment on managing difficult audiences. With members acting as “The Talker,” “The Interrupter,” “The Chatterer,” and “The Arguer,” she faced constant disruption. Yet, she handled them calmly and gracefully, demonstrating invaluable leadership and composure.

TM. A – Pace Yourself

A message speech reminding us to pace our time, energy, and money. Through vivid childhood and adult stories — from devouring Easter chocolate eggs to spending his salary on champagne dates — he delivered a touching life lesson with humor and impact.

TM. S – Unintended Connections, Lasting Echoes

Beginning with the question: “How many friends will you have in your lifetime?” she shared stories of hospitality and kindness exchanged with an old college friend, showing how friendship echoes across borders. Her heartfelt perspective deeply moved the audience.

今回は 4名のスピーカー が個性豊かなスピーチを披露しました。

TM. Q – From Kamakura to the U.S.: A Life of Learning and Dreams

初めてのアイスブレークスピーチ。鎌倉での青春時代、国際的なコミュニケーターを夢見て英語を学び、海外生活や結婚へとつながる歩みを熱意を込めて語りました。まるで自伝小説のように心を打つストーリーでした。

TM. T – It Will Be a Funny Story with Time

課題は「難しい聴衆への対応」。メンバーが「話しすぎる人」「割り込む人」「おしゃべりする人」「議論好きな人」に扮し、次々と邪魔をしました。T TMは落ち着いて優しく対処し、会場を見事にコントロール。リーダーシップと冷静さを示しました。

TM. A – Pace Yourself

「時間・エネルギー・お金をうまく配分せよ」というメッセージスピーチ。イースターのチョコエッグを一気に食べて頭痛に苦しんだ子供時代、そして大人になって給料を3日で高級デートに使い果たした体験をユーモラスに語りました。シンプルながら強い人生の教訓を届け、聴衆を感動させました。

TM.S – Unintended Connections, Lasting Echoes

「人生で何人の友達を持つと思いますか？」 という問いから始まりました。東京で働いていた旧友がタイに移住し、訪問した際に厚遇を受けたこと、またその友人の仲間が来日した際に自らも手厚くもてなしたことを紹介。友情が国境を越えて反響する様子を語り、会場を温かい感動で包みました。

Evaluation Session
TM. I advised one speaker to avoid looking at the ground and instead maintain eye contact.

TM. TS suggested shifting to a discussion style when delivering the “Managing Difficult Audience” project, to better handle interruptions.

TM. S recommended including pauses and silences when changing scenes, allowing the audience time to absorb the message.

TM. N encouraged more vocal variety and gestures to enrich the storytelling in the friendship speech.

The evaluators gave supportive and constructive feedback, helping every speaker grow.

I TM は、スピーチ中に下を見ないでアイコンタクトを心がけるよう助言しました。

TS TM は、「難しい聴衆への対応」の課題では、冒頭からディスカッション形式にすると中断があっても内容を保ちやすいと提案しました。

S TM は、場面転換の際に「沈黙や間」を入れることで聴衆が内容を整理できると指摘しました。

N TM は、友情をテーマにしたスピーチにもっと声の抑揚やジェスチャーを加えるとさらに魅力的になるとアドバイスしました。

建設的で前向きなフィードバックが行われ、すべてのスピーカーの成長につながりました。

Grammarian’s Report
TM. A served as Grammarian and highlighted several striking phrases that enriched the meeting:

She reminded members that well-chosen words can elevate speeches and leave an invaluable impression.

As mentioned at the beginning, the great asset of the Yokohama Toastmasters Club is that each member contributes to making every meeting invaluable — by embracing the theme, trying new ideas, and expressing themselves in unique ways.

This particular meeting stood out as one of the most successful gatherings, thanks to the great effort and thorough preparation of our Toastmaster of the Day, TM. Great job! You created a meeting that will be remembered forever in the history of Yokohama Toastmasters Club.
