The 610th Meeting Report

Greetings all,

#610 regular meeting was held on December 19 at Nogeyama- free-frat.
We enjoyed 2015 Year End Christmas costumed meeting with three 1st time guests and a 2nd time guest. Two of them were a married couple from Sri Lanka and study at a Japanese private university. Husband used to join a Toastmasters Club in Sri Lanka till coming to Japan and delivered a skillful table topic speech and got the best table topic speaker pushing away others beautifully!

Theme of the day was “What was the most memorable thing, happening or incident for you in 2015. All role takers shared theirs with participants, wedding party event, family trip, growth of child, bereavement and so on.
The word of the day was “lovely” According to the word of the day master, “lovely” is not always a feminine word. You can use the word in expressing meaning great or excellence and so on. As it was easy and familiar word, many used it in their speech.

Table topic theme was “about movie” Four speakers delivered impromptu speech.
We had two prepared speakers and a workshop regarding to “Virtual Attendance”. An advanced speaker talked about her honorable TM’s story and other speaker delivered how to remember person’s name from her experience.
Two evaluators made good evaluations in suitable ways.

Grahco shared her method to reduce unnecessary word. “For example”, “in another saying” instead of “Ah,uh”.
General evaluator evaluated the whole meeting in detail and gave us a lot of improvement. Thank you very much TM Y. She is excellent.
High motivated all guests told that they would come to new year regular meeting on January 9th in their guests comments. So let’s welcome them with warm heart.

Anyway, we finished the year end regular meeting successfully.
Thank you for your cooperation.
We are looking forward to seeing you all in the new year!
We wish you have a happy new year!

The 609th Meeting Report

YTMC regular meeting was held in order Dec. 5th.

Timer and Vote Counter was new to each role taker.
There were four educational speech, and good evaluations.

One new trial, officers and VPM committee held an oriantation for new members, and I think, they could know the flow of regular Meeting.

The 608th Meeting Report

Greetings All,

Our 608th Meeting had the theme of “My Favorite Book” and all role takers did well in sending the TMOD all their interesting books. The Word of the Day was a difficult one “Embolden” which was not used very well throughout the meeting. We have several 1st time guests as well.
We had an induction ceremony for a new member from Vietnam TM Th. She also performed her CC #1 Icebreaker Speech at this meeting. The Table Topics is always interesting and funny when TM Ma. does it and he didn’t disappoint us again with some tough questions.
In our Prepared Speech session, TM Ts. gave us insight into her actual job as an interpreter. TM Fu. explained to us how we can sell our skills online through the crowdsourcing initiative, which was very interesting and a new topic for many.
The General Evaluator TM Fr. took over after the break and reviewed in great detail the meeting even evaluating the Table Topics speakers. We finished with 3 beautiful ladies cleaning up the awards as you can see below.
Thank you all for a great meeting!

The 607th Meeting Report

23_TMODandWinnersGreetings all,

The 607th meeting was held on November 7th, 2015.
2 guests joined us and we had a lively meeting.

The word of the day was “mitigate”.
And table topic session was about “Santa Claus”.
4 questions were all unique and enjoyable.
So we could “mitigate” our nervousness and relax!

About 3 prepared speeches, all speakers were women!
And the speeches had plenty of variety.

TM M.N. – Her 1st speech (Icebreaker)
TM W.Y. – Speech about “Leadership”
TM H.A. – Interpretive Reading

Especially, TM M.N. made the 1st speech as a new member of YTMC.
She introduced herself by a unique method, and got the prize “Best Speaker”.

There was the special workshop about Division E Contest that was hosted by YTMC last month.
We could get impressions and opinions about the contest from both a contestant and committee members.
And it was useful for us to learn the importance of Toastmaster’s activities outside YTMC.

As TMOD, I realized that the meeting was made up of much support from the members.
And I’m very grateful to all the role takers, members, and the guests.

Next regular meeting will be held on Nov. 21st at Hatoba Kaikan.
See you at the next meeting!

The 606th Meeting Report

Greeting all,

The meeting was a special Halloween meeting with some monsters in our midst. We enjoyed Halloween meeting with fantastic costumes like Wizards , Witches, DIY style, Fairies and more.

We especially could honor a few guests from other clubs, who were very positive about answering questions.  They participated so well that they even won the best table topics speaker .

Our very own President made a speech about Runner’s High and then introduced a new catch phrase,  ” Toastmasters’ s High”, which was so impressive and sounded unique!

As TMOD, I was delighted to see all the happy laughing faces during the meeting.  I really appreciated all attendees dedication, and hard work especially TM F for printing out the agenda on my behalf.

Again Thank you everyone. Toastmasters always treat you with no tricks (^o^)v.

The 605th Meeting Report

Greetings All,

Meeting #605 was full of many virtuosic performances.  Kicked off again by our President N., we enjoyed a great induction ceremony of our new member Toastmaster N.  She was one very delighted to join our family of Toastmasters and we look forward to her speech and leadership performances to come.
Toastmaster I. cracked some nice jokes to get the atmosphere warmed up.  We were entertained by a great Table Topics session hosted by Toastmaster Y.  She kept to the theme of colors and asked various questions to the audience.
The prepared speech section had some great performances by our stronger speakers.  Toastmaster Ta. first explained to us how much of a miracle we are for making it into this world and the difficulty of pregnancy.  Toastmaster Ts. did some great research to describe the Yukatsu Program concepts regarding Work Life Balance that the government is trying to introduce.  Finally, Toastmaster M. gave his first advanced manual speech about Breaking our Ducks and learning to engage strangers in conversation.
Overall, many of the speeches and evaluations were too long so we need to work better on our time management.  Our newest member also won her first table topics session!  Congratulations!
See you back in 2 weeks as the story continues with Meeting #606.

Warm Regards,

Yokohama Toastmasters Club

TM Fujima introduced today’s Word of the day, [fabulously]. Many members used her Word of the Day several times during the meeting.

The 603rd Meeting Report

Greetings Everyone,

As contest chair I have enjoyed a very good experience. This time, I tried to communicate with the contest SAA by using a mobile phone. It was very convenient to call the contestants in at the right times. Adding the names to the Participation Certifications and winners to the Award Sheets were made much easier by pasting pre-printed names.

We would like to thank Toastmaster Taketomi as contest SAA., contestants, staff and all participants, thank you very much.

Shigenoei Iimure

It was held during the summer vacation, but many members were able to joined.
There were 2 speakers and 2 evaluators.

Throughout the workshop, he asked some questions to the audience, and it was good chance to develop our listening skills because the questions
included were not only about speech topics but also about the message in each of the evaluation speeches.

Table Topics Session was also interesting.

Thank you for joining us!

Your Toastmaster of the Day,
Ryuma Koganei
