第696回例会は8月3日の猛暑の中、エアコン音が鳴り響く平沼記念レストハウスで行われました。
本日の例会テーマは早口言葉。前もってお題として提示した早口言葉を言っていただきます、というちょっといつもと変わったテーマにしてみました。
日本語は音声学的には世界で2番目に簡単な言語と言われています（因みに1番はポリネシアン語だそうです）。そんな日本語が母語の人々にとっては、他国言語の発音を身につけるのは一筋縄ではいきません。根気よく繰り返しを繰り返して身に着けていくしかないのですが、その練習法の一つに早口言葉は効果的なのです。
The regular meeting #696 was held at Hiranuma Memorial Rest Hose on 3rd August in extreme heat. The air conditioner in the meeting room was too loud.
The meeting theme was “Tongue Twister”. The word of tongue twister has been handed over to all participant in advance and try it during the meeting.
The Japanese launguage is the second easiest pronunciation in the world (the easiest pronunciation is Polynesian language). It is hard for the people speaking Japanse as their mother launguage to learn English pronunciation. It requires patience, just repeating the repeats. The tongue twister is one of effective learning method.

比較的答えやすい質問でしたが、即興スピーチはやはり難しいなーと感じた次第です。ゲストの方にも即興スピーチいただき、大いに盛り上がりました。

The questions were comparatively easy to answer, bus still impromptu speech is difficult.
本日の事前準備スピーチは4名です。The ice breakerスピーチは、会員なりたてのTM.Mと新たなプロジェクトPathwayへ変更したてのToastmaster歴最長年（？）のTM.A.I。Ice bereakerスピーチは、一番初めに行うスピーチですが、初スピーカーデビューとベテランスピーカーが同時にIce Breakerスピーチが行われるのは、そうない機会です。TM.Oは連続で同じテーマに挑戦。TM.Kは英語力もプレゼン力も高く、面白いセッションになりました。

TM.T.Mは初スピーチとは思えないほどの貫禄で、自身の自己紹介を3つに絞込みまとめました。TM.K.Oは前回と同じタイトルで内容をガラっと変え挑みました。超ベテランのTM.A.Iの注目のIce breakerスピーチは自分の運のなさについてユーモアに語ってくれました。TM.Kは自身の海外での仕事経験をもとに得たことをこれまた登場人物の写真つきでユーモアいっぱいに話してくれました。本日のスピーチは猛暑よりも熱い熱戦・激戦でした。
The prepared speech was delivered by four speakers. The ice breaker speech was executed by a fresh member TM.M who gave his first speech and TM.A.I who is one of very experienced speaker who started new project “pathway”. The contrast makes the session even more interesting because it’s a quite rare opportunity to hear the ice breaker speech from a fresh and a ripe member at the same time. TM.K.O challenged the same title of speech and TM.K is an excellent English speaker and a skilled presentar. The session became intrigued.

TM.T.M gave a speech with a great confidence. It was unbelievable that was his first speech. He introduced himself narrowing down to three major characters. TM.K.O used same speech title as last time but changed the contens. TM.A.I spoke how unlucky he’s been in his past life with humor. TM.S.K’s speech was about something he learnt from his work experience in overseas with presenting a photo of the characters. Today’s prepared speeches were hotter than the whether.
本日のRefreshment Masterは（新しいロールで現在お試し期間中）は、TM.H.M。なんと手作りなのに手作りとは思えないおやつを持ってきてくれました。メンバーたちはしっかりRefreshmentできたようです。
Today’s refreshment master (new role) is TM.M. She made a home made sweets which looked professional! All members were refreshed with her sweets.
10分の休憩を挟み論評のセッションへ。本日の総論評は突っ込みが鋭いTM.K.T。各論評者は下記の通りでした。

なんと、TM.M.Oは自分の旦那さんを論評するという粋な配役。それぞれの視点で、的確なアドバイスも含めた論評でした。
Proceeding to the evaluation session after 10 min. intermission, today’s general evaluator is TM.K.T who gives sharp and spicy comments.

It was a nice role assignment for the evaluator TM.M.O evaluate her own husband. Each evaluator evaluated each speakers with their point of view and accurate advice.
総論評者からは下記の指摘がありました。
high confidence–>strong confidence
Table topicの質問がテーマに沿っていないものがいくつかあった。質問内容ももう少し捻りがあるとよい。

The general evaluator TM.K.T pointed out as below:
“high confidence” should be “strong confidence”
Some of questions at the table topic did not follow the theme and it’s better to twist the question.
本日のAwardは、夏を涼む食べ物で自身の国の食べ物を話してくれたゲストのSさんが、Best Table Topic Speakerを、旦那さんのスピーチを前回と比較してうまく論評したTM.M.OがBest Evaluatorを、人生初のToastmastersでのスピーチを行ったTM.T.MがBest Speakerをそれぞれ受賞しました。
Intermissionと最後に早口言葉タイムを設け、懐かしのリズムに乗りながら実施してみましたが、準備がいまいちで時間がかかってしまいタイムオーバーとなってしまいました。申し訳ない！
とはいえ、そこそこ盛り上がり、特にTM.H.Iは完璧でした！みなさんご協力ありがとうございました。

Best Table Topic Speaker: Guest S-san who spoke about food of his own country to feel cool in a hot summer.
Best Evaluator; TM.M.O who evaluate her own husband with comparing with his last speech.
Best Speaker: TM.T.M who deliverd his first speech at the toastmasters.
There were two “tongue twister time” during the whole session with the old rhythm. I believe it was excited but I was not prepared enough and got time over, sorry! TM.H I was perfect. Thank you for your cooperation. “Practice makes perfect”.
