Greeting all,

The meeting was a special Halloween meeting with some monsters in our midst. We enjoyed Halloween meeting with fantastic costumes like Wizards , Witches, DIY style, Fairies and more.

We especially could honor a few guests from other clubs, who were very positive about answering questions.  They participated so well that they even won the best table topics speaker .

Our very own President made a speech about Runner’s High and then introduced a new catch phrase,  ” Toastmasters’ s High”, which was so impressive and sounded unique!

As TMOD, I was delighted to see all the happy laughing faces during the meeting.  I really appreciated all attendees dedication, and hard work especially TM F for printing out the agenda on my behalf.

Greetings All,

Meeting #605 was full of many virtuosic performances.  Kicked off again by our President N., we enjoyed a great induction ceremony of our new member Toastmaster N.  She was one very delighted to join our family of Toastmasters and we look forward to her speech and leadership performances to come.
Toastmaster I. cracked some nice jokes to get the atmosphere warmed up.  We were entertained by a great Table Topics session hosted by Toastmaster Y.  She kept to the theme of colors and asked various questions to the audience. 
The prepared speech section had some great performances by our stronger speakers.  Toastmaster Ta. first explained to us how much of a miracle we are for making it into this world and the difficulty of pregnancy.  Toastmaster Ts. did some great research to describe the Yukatsu Program concepts regarding Work Life Balance that the government is trying to introduce.  Finally, Toastmaster M. gave his first advanced manual speech about Breaking our Ducks and learning to engage strangers in conversation. 
Overall, many of the speeches and evaluations were too long so we need to work better on our time management.  Our newest member also won her first table topics session!  Congratulations!

Greetings All,

Our meeting#604 was held at Hatobakaikan and it was a very beautiful sunny day. The meeting started on time at 2pm and today’s TMOD was TM K.T. (me) and at the beginning of the session, I informed the membership that it will be a last chance to conduct the TMOD role before my maternity leave. TM Fujima introduced today’s Word of the day, [fabulously]. Many members used her Word of the Day several times during the meeting.

Today’s Vote Counter was TM G who became our club member on last meeting. Although it was a first role for him, he introduced his role and objective very well. Today’s Table Topic Master was TM C.F who came back to be our member last August and he gave us 5 questions related to Autumn. He ran his session very smoothly.

We had 3 speakers, TM R.K and TM T.T and TM A.T.  TM T.T gave us a very informative speech about nutrition and the benefits of Soymilk. We learned a lot of useful tips about Soymilk and the differentiation between milk and soymilk. TM A.T made a Japanese speech for the practice session of Japanese Evaluation contest.
During the evaluation session, TM H.A gave us 2 evaluation speeches for TM R.K’s speech in English and for TM A.T’s Japanese speech in Japanese.  We all enjoyed and learned from her high quality evaluation speech in both languages. Good luck at the Area Contest!!

Today’s selected best speakers were all women!!!  It became a girl’s day!!! Wow. Congratulation!!

At the end of the meeting, one of the today’s guests Ms. M.N indicated her intention to become a Yokohama TM Club official member at her next meeting!!

Another good point of today’s meeting was that all attendees had a chance to speak during a meeting. We all enjoyed today’s meeting and end it on time!!

Next regular meeting is on Oct 3^rd at Hatoba Kaikan. See you then!

No.602 Yokohama TMC Regular Meeting was held at Hatoba Kaikan on Aug. 15th.

It was held during the summer vacation, but many members were able to joined.
There were 2 speakers and 2 evaluators.

One special workshop session about speech evaluation was held by Toastmaster Saito.
Throughout the workshop, he asked some questions to the audience, and it was good chance to develop our listening skills because the questions 
included were not only about speech topics but also about the message in each of the evaluation speeches.

Table Topics Session was also interesting.

On August 1st, our 601st meeting was held at Hatoba-Kaikan. 

The theme for the meeting was “A New Chapter of YTMC Begins!”

Indeed, after a fabulous celebration of our 600th meeting, we Yokohama Toastmasters began a new chapter of our club.

Word of the day was “captivate”.

I hope all the members are well captivated by YTMC activities!

In the tips session, we learned how to prepare for a humorous talk for the audience.

Joke session included some funny stories related to the Osaka dialect!

Table topic session touched upon four thoughtful questions regarding World War II.

We had three speeches at the prepared speech session:

1. “It’s Me, Mom” TM T spoke about sometimes difficult yet heartwarming mother-and-son relationship.

2. “My sweet white fluffy girl” TM Y shared her precious experience with her pet dog back in her parents’ house.

3. “Follow the Mentors” TM M, a guest speaker from Den-en Toshi TMC, told how his passion for Rubik’s Cube was led by three people.

I would like to thank the role takers, members and guests for making the meeting all the more enjoyable.

The 600^th Meeting Report

Yokohama Toastmasters Club celebrated a monumental landmark by reaching its 600^th meeting. For 27 years YTMC has been setting a great example as the most prominent club in the area and this meeting was exciting and action packed with a host of guests.

Toastmaster of the Day (TM Froebe) kicked off proceedings running through the schedule and discussing how we moved from Creating Pleasure with Your Performance to this year’s slogan, Gateway to Your Future!

The Word of the Day was “Brilliant” and used well throughout the meeting. Our former President TM Taketomi got us off to a laughing start with his jokes and we moved along to TM Arai’s Table Topic sessions. She did a brilliant job bringing back good memories from our more members and guests, some of whom were there for the initial founding of YTMC.

The prepared speech sessions were equally entertaining with our best speaker TM Tsubaki giving an interest speech about her Battle with Mr C. (Many are still wondering who or what Mr. C is) TM Nakanishi took us back a few years when he started Toastmasters and described the benefits he has enjoyed. TM Saito fought valiantly through his speech about his first boss but took the strong constructive criticism from TM Kawakami well. We should expect some good improvement as he moves on to his next project.

TM Tachi had some glowing praise for the meeting in her General Evaluation but indicated the lack of our very own Tips session. This was left out due to the 4^th speaker and the great number of guests commenting at the end of the meeting.

TM Tsubaki (Best Speaker), TM Iimure (Best Table Topics), TM Kawakami (Best Evaluator) were awarded and we wrapped up proceeding with a great number of brilliant guests congratulating YTMC on our achievement and the quality of the meeting.

Thank you to all our wonderful guests but a special thanks needs to go to our Members, who with their presence and efforts towards their Toastmaster Projects are keeping the YTMC dream alive.

A new term of Toastmasters began on July 1st.

The regular meeting on July 4th was the first meeting in this term.

Mr. Nakanishi, our new president, remarked on his hopes and introduced our new slogan, “Gateway to Your Future”.

We had 3 guests, two of whom were non-Toastmasters expressed their intentions to join our club at the end of the meeting. “They will open gateways to their futures!”  We had a 3rd veteran guest, who won the best Table Topics speech with a great performance.

“Enthusiastic” was introduced by the GRACHO as word of the day, a key  word to be used throughout the meeting.  It was a perfect fit as we had an enthusiastic meeting.

The meeting started on time and closed just on time.

We truly got off to a good start at the very beginning of this  term.

The YTMC #573 meeting was held on June 7th at Seishonen-ikusei Kaikan.

In spite of heavy rain and 16 members joined today’s meeting. Also, we had 3 guests. The meeting started with VPE R.K.(acting President)’s opening remarks and at the beginning of today’s meeting, we had an officers Election! Nominating Committee members (TM T.M and TM S.I) and VPE R.K conducted the election and it run smoothly.  Then…. new offices from this July were all elected!! I believe that new officers will build more attractive club and make all members more fun!!

After the officers election, the meeting control was passed to today’s TMOD, KT(‘me’!). Today’s my meeting theme is “Rainy Season”. As I hate the rainy season,
I had asked all role takers ‘how do you enjoy rainy season?’　All role takes gave me very unique idea and good advisements to enjoy the rainy days.
For example, in rainy season, someone said that he will enjoy watch World Cup Soccer game, and someone said that he will visit Kamakura area as middle of Jun is the best season for fireflies watching in Kamakura area. That was sound great !

Today’s Table Topic Master was TM S.I. At first, he showed one scene from cartoon film. Then, he gave us some questions about our imagination of next story and next scene of the cartoon film. It was a very new and unique way for all members!

After that, we had 3 speech sessions. One of the speakers, TM T.Y gave us his speech about how to get DTM award! He showed 2 DTM award plates and explained about his effort and episode about them. Through his speech, we all knew and learned how difficult it is and how much he did hard work during his Toastmasters club activities.

At the evaluation session, TM T.S gave us a great feedback to each role takers even it was a short time. Also, today’s Gracho, TM T.M, gave us sound advices.
It is not easy to find the mistakes of grammar and use of sentences but he pointed out those errors and explained us correctly. Thank you for giving us advicements!!

Although today’s agenda was a tight schedule, all role takers conducted their roles on time. In today’s meeting, one of our new members, TM M.F took his first role as Vote Counter, and he did a great job without any issue, congratulation!

The　YTMC　♯572　meeting hold on May 24th at Hatobakaikan

In this time we hold the meeting at the different week, because previous week was District conference. Due to very irregular schedule, relatively less member could participate in this meeting. Then we felt little bit difficult to assign each role.
But, despite such a difficult situation, we could carried out this session by cooperating with each other. TM S undertook double roles , as a speaker and an evaluator. I’m sure this was really tough challenge for him. But he delivered very humorous and inspirational and humorous speech. And he also gained best evaluator award！He made rally good job!!
And TM N take took charge of sudden role as supporter (Vote counter).
Other speakers preformed very well with their original and informative speeches.
With many voluntary cooperation of each member, we could achieve this meeting very successfully. I ‘d like to say many thanks for all members as TMOD!!

The YTMC #571 meeting held on May 3rd at Seishonen-ikusei Kaikan. The day,
May 3rd was in the middle of Golden Week and also the International Costume Procession Festival was held on the main streets in Yokohama. So the street along our way of the venue was very busy with spectators to see the cheerful scene.

The meeting started at 14:00 in a joyous mood with 10 guests. We were first planning to have an induction ceremony for 2 persons, but happily 3 persons
in the end. How gorgeous we had the meeting with 3 new members !
On top of that, one of them made a speech, “Ice Break Speech.”

The theme of the meeting: What’s your one more step forward in TM ?
I think a member joins this club to be a better speaker, but we don’t have any teachers. So we support one another by making a speech, evaluating a speech or taking any roles including an officer’s role to serve members and the club, that is, we learn by doing. Every member is asked to act one more step.

The meeting was a regular one with Table Topic and 4 Prepared- Speakers.
At the topic session, the theme was timely, “Golden Week”. All speeches were
great and full of variety.

And an officer’s election for the next term is close at hand, so that we had
a special session by nomination committee. The title was “ What is club officers ?”
Each current officer introduced his/her responsibility and role explanation.
They inspired members to become a candidate for the next officer.
On June 7th we will have an election.

The meeting was very vivid, fantastic and a full program.
