The year’s final meeting was held with the theme “Moments of Joy and Warmth,” centered on Christmas. A former member from 20 years ago joined online, while a third-time guest attended in person. Before the start, members and role holders decorated the venue and wore Christmas-colored sweaters, reindeer headbands, Santa hats, and red reindeer noses—one even in a horse bodysuit with a reindeer hat—creating a cheerful and warm atmosphere as the meeting began.
今年最後のミーティグは「喜びと温もりのひととき」をテーマに、クリスマスを中心に開催されました。20年前に入会した元メンバーはオンラインで参加し、3回目のゲストは来場しました。開始前から会場を飾り付け、メンバーや役割担当者は赤や緑のセーターにトナカイのカチューシャやサンタ帽子、赤いトナカイの鼻を身につけ、なかには馬のボディスーツにトナカイ帽子のメンバーもいて^.^、笑顔あふれる明るく温かな雰囲気の中、例会が始まりました。
The meeting began with a greeting and business session led by President TM M. Former President TM A reported that the Yokohama Toastmasters Club received the Select Distinguished Club Award for last year, an award recognizing the club’s strong performance and consistent support of member development.
例会は、President TM Mによる挨拶とビジネスセッションから始まりました。前会長のTM Aより、横浜トーストマスターズクラブが昨年度、メンバーの成長を継続的に支えてきた取り組みとクラブ運営の成果が評価され、セレクト・ディスティングイッシュド・クラブ・アワードを受賞したことを報告しました。
＜Word of the Day＞
TM T introduced “Joyful” as the Word of the Day, talking about how important joy is during the festive season. He mentioned his favorite band, Ikimonogakari, and said that joy is contagious, encouraging everyone to use “joyful” to make the day brighter.
TM Tは「Joyful」をWord of the Day（本日の単語）として紹介し、祝祭の季節に喜びが大切だと話しました。お気に入りのバンド、いきものがかりの音楽にも触れながら、喜びは伝染すると述べ、みんなも「joyful」という言葉を使って一日を明るくしようと呼びかけました。

1st Speaker – TM A: Effective Feedback to Save Managers
TM A delivered her speech following the Leadership Excellence Series guidelines, skillfully playing two characters with poise and depth. She highlighted the importance of understanding the objectives of her subordinate and explained three key steps: Learn Objectives, Observe Performance, and Provide Immediate Feedback. Her speech emphasized how these steps contribute to effective feedback and support team growth. It was practical, insightful, and engaged the audience with thoughtful humor.

2nd Speaker – TM J: Should I stay or Should I go?
TM J reflected on his 8 years in Japan, which had been filled with adventures and personal growth, but also heartache and missed connections. He shared the internal struggle of deciding whether to stay or leave, feeling both free and disconnected. Ultimately, he announced that that day was his last meeting, and he was going home. -We will miss you, and we sincerely appreciate all you have contributed to YTMC. Your speeches have inspired and taught us all. We sincerely wish you all the best in the new journey ahead.
TM Jは、日本での8年間を 冒険と自己成長に満ちものとして振り返りつつ、心の葛藤や失われた繋がりも感じていることを語りました。彼は「留まるべきか、去るべきか」という決断に悩む中、自由でありながらも孤独を感じていることを共有しました。最終的に今日が最後の会となり、帰国することを伝えました。
私たちは寂しく思うとともに、横浜トーストマスターズクラブへの貢献に心から感謝しています。貴方のスピーチは私たち皆に刺激と学びを与えてくれました。これからの新しい旅が素晴らしいものになるよう心から願っています。
3rd Speaker – TM T: Moments of Joy, Warmth, and a Bad Haircut
TM T talked about how paying attention to small details, like noticing his wife’s haircut, can have a big impact on happiness at home, showing how the little things we often overlook can make a huge difference in relationships. He learned that joy often came from the quiet, everyday moments, even when they seemed illogical. His key takeaway: Always remember to compliment the haircut. －If you forget, you might end up sleeping on the couch that night. hehehe.
TM Tは、妻の髪型に気づくような小さな細かいことが、家の中での幸せに大きな影響を与えることを話しました。
普段気づかないような小さなことが、実は関係に大きな違いをもたらすことがあるんだということに気づかされました。喜びは、たとえ一見理屈に合わないと思える日常の何気ない瞬間からも生まれると気づいたそうです。
彼の教訓は、妻の髪型を褒めることを忘れないこと。―これを忘れると,ソファで寝ることになってしまうかもですね ,ふふふ。
4th Speaker – TM I: I went Jiro
A big thank you to TM I for graciously filling in as a last-minute substitute. 急な予定変更にも関わらず、快く代役を務めてくださったTM Iさん、ありがとうございます。
For today’s Evaluation and Feedback, TM I used a past speech topic. TM I treated going to Ramen Jiro like a big adventure or a game, describing the experience almost like a novel. Through exaggerations and vivid metaphors—like the giant frog, magma, and the smell of oil and garlic. The speech showed the importance of preparation, patience, courage, and enjoying small moments. It was an impressive speech that mixed humor and insight.
本日のEvaluation and Feedbackでは、TM Iは過去のスピーチの題材を使いました。TM Iはラーメン二郎に行くことを大きな冒険やゲームのように捉え、その体験をほとんど小説のように描写しました。巨大なカエルやマグマ、油とニンニクの匂いのような誇張や鮮やかな比喩を通して、準備の大切さ、忍耐力、勇気、そして日常の小さな喜びに気づくことの重要性を伝えていました。ユーモアと洞察が見事に融合した、印象的なスピーチでした。
After a 10-minute break, the assigned Evaluators gave feedback on each speech. They identified strengths and areas for improvement, sometimes agreeing with own impressions and sometimes offering different perspectives. Today’s Evaluator comments also offered many new insights and perspectives, making it a great opportunity to broaden our thinking.
10分の休憩をはさんで、事前に担当を割り当てられたEvaluatorが各スピーチにフィードバックを行いました。良いところや改善点をはっきり教えてくれて、自分と同じ意見のときもあれば、違う視点からの指摘もありました。今日のEvaluatorのコメントも、新しい気づきや視点が多く、私たちの考えを広げる良い機会になりました。
Today’s awards had a special twist: “The Top of the Nice List,” an award for someone truly deserving Santa’s top spot on the Nice List. Cue the drumroll ♪… and here comes TM T ^.^
