The meeting started on time at 14:00. It was the first meeting in fiscal year
2026. The venue was Kaiko Kinen Kaikan. We had two guests and one of them
joined our club today.
Today’s Toastmaster of the Day was Toastmaster (TM, here after) M, who is
the president of Yokohama Toastmasters Club (YTMC, here after). The meeting
theme was “YOUR NAME” and the related question was “Do you like your
name?” Each role taker answered this question during the meeting. One of
them said “I hated my maiden name because it was very difficult to be
recognized by other people. I am now happy because my husband’s last name
is very easy”.
Before the session starts, we had the induction ceremony for new member W-
san, who had been the TM long time ago and decided to re-join the YTMC.
After the role explanation by each supporter, the first session, which is Table
Topic Session was conducted by TM U.
In this session, Table Topic Master asks
a question and then the designated person answer it impromptu. All the
questions were well thought and interesting. We all enjoyed a lot.
The next session was Prepared Speech. The first speaker was TM Y, who has
just joined the club last month and made his icebreaker speech. His English is
very fluent and almost native level. The speech title was “Farm to Cradle”. He
talked about the moment when their baby was born, relating to his experience in
US. It was a very nice moving speech and very well structured.
The second speaker was TM F, who joined YTMC last year. Her speech title
was “A Very Expensive Name”. Before the speech, we were wondering what
this title means. We found out that it was a struggle against airline staff on her
name. The purpose of her speech was to exercise body language and vocal
variety, which she was very successful.
The last speaker was TM T, who is one of the most experienced members in
YTMC. She conducted a discussion session. The topic was “Which do you like
country life or city life?” The members were divided into 4 groups and discussed
on the topic. The session continued for 20 minutes with a lot of argument and
different opinions. We all enjoyed the discussion.
The last session was Evaluation Session, where evaluators evaluate prepared
speeches. General Evaluator, TM MT, conducted this session very smoothly.
Evaluators were TM TT, TM AT and TM TS. They evaluated each prepared
speech, pointing out good points and improvement points. And, all supporters
presented their reports accordingly.
In the end, TM MT gave a general
evaluation for the whole meeting and pass the control back to Toastmaster of
the Day, TM M. TM M awarded the best Table Topic Speaker to TM A, the best
evaluator to TM TS and best prepared speaker to TM Y. As usual, the meeting
was conducted in a very friendly atmosphere and adjourned on time at 16:15.

会議は予定通り14:00に開始しました。2026会計年度初の会議で、会場は開港記念
館でした。ゲスト2名が参加し、そのうち1名が本日クラブに加入しました。
今日の司会（Toastmaster、以下TM）は、横浜トーストマスターズクラブ（YTMC、以下）
の会長であるTM M氏でした。会議のテーマは「YOUR NAME」で、関連質問は「Do
you like your name?」でした。各役割担当者がこの質問に答えました。そのうち1名は「
旧姓が他人に聞き取られにくくて嫌いだった。今は夫の姓が簡単で幸せです」と話し
ていました。
セッション開始前に、新会員W氏の入会式を行いました。W氏は以前TMを務めていた
方で、再加入を決めました。各サポーターの役割説明後、最初のセッションである
Table Topic SessionをTM U氏が進行しました。このセッションでは、Table Topic
Masterが質問を投げかけ、指定された人が即興で答えます。すべての質問は考え抜
かれていて面白く、皆が大いに楽しみました。
次のセッションは準備スピーチでした。最初のスピーカーは先月加入したばかりのTM
Y氏で、アイスブレイカースピーチを披露しました。彼の英語は非常に流暢で、ほぼネ
イティブレベルです。スピーチタイトルは「Farm to Cradle」で、米国での経験を交え、
赤ちゃんが生まれた瞬間の感動を語りました。感動的でよく構成された素晴らしいス
ピーチでした。
2番目のスピーカーは昨年YTMCに加入したTM F氏で、タイトルは「A Very Expensive
Name」でした。タイトルが何を意味するのか気になりましたが、航空会社のスタッフと
の名前のトラブルに苦労した話だとわかりました。スピーチの目的はボディランゲージ
と声のバリエーションの練習で、大成功でした。
最後のスピーカーはYTMCの最も経験豊富なメンバーの一人であるTM T氏で、ディス
カッションセッションを進行しました。トピックは「Which do you like country life or city
life?」で、メンバーを4グループに分け議論しました。20分間、活発な議論と多様な意
見が交わされ、皆が楽しみました。
最後のセッションはEvaluation Sessionで、各準備スピーチを評価します。統括評価者
TM MT氏がスムーズに進行しました。評価者はTM TT氏、TM AT氏、TM TS氏で、各
スピーチの良い点と改善点を指摘しました。各サポーターも報告を発表し、最後にTM
MT氏が全体の一般評価を行い、司会TM M氏に引き継ぎました。最優秀Table Topic
スピーカーはTM A氏、最優秀評価者はTM TS氏、最優秀準備スピーカーはTM Y氏
が表彰されました。いつものように和やかな雰囲気で進行し、予定通り16:15に終了し
ました。
