第851回例会レポート/The 851th Regular Meeting Report
前回に引き続き、30名近い方々（6名のゲスト）に出席いただきました。本日の会場は波
止場会館の1Fで、比較的広い部屋でしたがほぼ満席となり、和やかな雰囲気でありなが
らも熱気の溢れる会合となりました。
また、しばらく休会されていたTM K.Mの復帰がアナウンスされました。TM K.M、これか
らさらに会合を盛り上げていきましょう！
Following our previous meeting, nearly 30 attendees (including 6 guests) joined us today.
The venue was the relatively spacious first floor of Hatoba Kaikan, which was nearly filled
to capacity. The meeting unfolded in a warm atmosphere filled with enthusiasm.
Additionally, the comeback of TM K.M, who had been on leave for a while, was
announced. TM K.M, let's make our meetings even more exciting from now on!
＜オープニング/Opening＞
この日の司会者（Toastmaster of the Day）はTM Sでした。例会のテーマは「Your story
at age 20(20歳の頃のあなたのストーリー)」で成人の日を意識したテーマです。
参加者からは、「サックスを購入して練習した日々」、「新幹線に初めて乗車した」、「
結婚式のアルバイトで新婦のスピーチに感動した」といった話がありました。その中には
「ヒッチハイクで九州を１周した」という強者も。
また、本日の言葉は、promising(将来が明るい、成功を期待できる)です。新成人の門出を
祝うかのようなポジティブな言葉です。
The Toastmaster of the Day was TM S. The meeting theme was “Your Story at Age 20”, a
theme inspired by Coming of Age Day.
Participants shared stories like “The days I bought a saxophone and practiced”, “My first
time riding the Shinkansen”, and “Being moved by the bride’s speech while working at a
wedding venue”. Among them was a tough person who hitchhiked through Kyushu.
Word of the Day is “promising”. It's a positive word that seems to celebrate newly minted
adults' new beginnings.
＜テーブルトピックセッション/Table Topics Session＞
テーブルトピックセッションはTM Oが担当し、例会のテーマに関連した質問を用意しま
した。このテーブルトピックセッションは、テーブルトピックの担当者が提示したトピッ
クについて、指名された方が１～２分程度話すものになります。
それではどのようなトピックが話されたかを見ていきましょう。
・今の年齢であることは好きですか？
[回答]もうすぐ60歳なので次の成功を期待できるキャリアを考えたい。(TM M.T)
・もし誰かが永遠に生きられる薬をあなたにくれたら、飲みますか？
[回答]それぞれの年代での楽しみ方があるので飲まない。(TM K.M)
・時計の針を戻して、人生をもう一度生き直してみたいですか？
[回答]これまで様々な困難を乗り越えて、今ここにいるのでそう思わない。（TM N）
・退職後はどのような生き方をしたいですか？
[回答]8年前に滞在したイタリアのシチリア島に戻ってみたい。(Guest)
・もし3歳の自分にアドバイスをするなら、どんなアドバイスをしますか？
[回答]妹に親切にしよう(TM N.M)
いずれもポジティブ、ユニークな回答でした。
The Table Topics session was conducted by TM O., who prepared questions related to the
meeting's theme. In this session, each person called upon speaks for about one to two
minutes on a topic presented by the Table Topics Master.
Now, let's see what topics were discussed.
・Do you like being your current age?
[Answer] I'm approaching 60, so I want to consider my next promising career path. (TM
M.T)
・If someone gave you a medicine which makes you live forever, would you take it?
[Answer] Each generation has its own way of enjoyment, so I don't drink. (TM K.M)
・Would you like to turn back the clock and relive your life?
[Answer] Having overcome various difficulties to get here, I don't think so. (TM N)
・Is there any way you want to live after retirement?
[Answer] I'd like to return to Sicily, Italy, where I stayed eight years ago (Guest)
・If you want to give your three-year-old self some advice, what kind of advice would you
get?
Be kind to your sister(TM N.M)
All were positive and unique responses.
＜準備スピーチ/Prepared Speech＞
続いて準備スピーチです。今回は4名の方がそれぞれスピーチを行いました。準備スピー
チは通例5～7分のスピーチを行います（今回はTM T.Tには質疑を含めた18～20分のスピー
チがアサインされました）。
TM Iは人類にとって話すことが果たす役割や祖母との思い出について、TM Qは海外に住
んだ際に日本の宗教について聞かれたことをきっかけに理解を深めた武士道について
、TM M.Tからは異文化交流で誤解の発生する状況（例：大丈夫です⇒ネガティブな意図で
発言しても、聞き手からは文字通りポジティブと誤解される）について、TM T.Tからは次
回のクラブ内コンテストに向けてトーストマスターズの全日本チャンピオンから学んだ6
つのポイントについてスピーチがなされました。
どのスピーチもトピック内容を深堀りしており、聴衆にとって興味深く、また新たな気づ
きの得られるものでした。
Next is the prepared speech. This time, four members each delivered a speech. Prepared
speeches are typically 5 to 7 minutes long (though TM T.T was assigned an 18 to 20
minute speech including Q&A).
TM I gave a speech about the role of speech for mankind and memories with her
grandmother. TM Q delivered a speech about Bushido, which he came to understand
more deeply after being asked about Japanese religion while living overseas. TM M.T
spoke about situations where misunderstandings occur in intercultural communication
(e.g., “It's okay(Daijobu)” ⇒ Even if spoken with negative intent, the listener may literally
misunderstand it as positive). TM T.T made a speech about six points learned from
champions of the District 76 (All Japan) Speech Contest, in preparation for the upcoming
In-House Speech Contest.
Each speech explored its topic in depth, proving both fascinating and insightful for the
audience.
＜論評セッション/Evaluation Session＞
ここではそれぞれの準備スピーチへの論評があり、その後総合論評者から会合全体への論
評をします。総合論評者Iからは、例会のテーマ、本日の言葉、テーブルトピック、準備
スピーチといずれも時間(Time)に関するものとなっており、全体が繋がっていたとのコメ
ントがありました。
This session featured feedback on each prepared speech, followed by overall comments
from the General Evaluator. General Evaluator I mentioned that the meeting theme, Word
of the Day, table topics, and prepared speeches all related to the concept of “Time”,
connecting the entire session.
