The hot summer has departed, making way for the beautiful autumn in Yokohama. Despite the sunny day, there’s a noticeable chill in the air, allowing us to truly feel the arrival of autumn. Our regular meeting at Hatoba-Kaian was a success, with the room filled with members and three guests. 熱い夏が去り、美しい秋が横浜に広がっています。晴れた日ではありますが、空気には秋の訪れを感じる寒さがあります。波止場会館での通常のミーティングは成功に終わり、たくさんのメンバーと3人のゲストが参加されました。
The Toastmaster of the Day was TM. M., in her debut role as TMOD. It was her time to shine! Her charming opening remarks and well-prepared comments captivated all the members. 本日のトーストマスターズオブザデイはTM. M.で、彼女のTMODデビューでした。 彼女は輝いていました！ 魅力的なオープニングコメントと軽快な司会進行はすべてのメンバーを引き込みました。
Today’s Word of the Day: Borderless
While we hear this term every day nowadays, let’s incorporate it into our speeches and comments!

Then, we moved on to the Table Topic Session led by TM. T. This session is one of the most exciting moments during a regular meeting. Several simple questions were posed, and assigned speakers were relaxed and enjoyed giving impromptu speeches.

1.If you want to see beautiful autumn leaves, where do you recommend?
TM. S suggested the beautiful park of Shinjuku and his hometown surrounded by mountains.

2.How do you enjoy travel?
TM. O expressed a desire to experience new places with unfamiliar cultures.

3.Share an unexpected challenge of travel.
TM. S recounted her first experience in New York, where she challenged herself to reach her sister’s apartment without support and ended up losing her luggage!

TM. T shared an experience of visiting a hot spring place during a business trip, witnessing beautiful fireworks surrounded by many couples.

5.What lesson did you learn from local people?
TM. K emphasized the need to improve English skills to communicate with kind local people.

Now, we moved on to the Prepared Speech Session.

1.Speaker: TM. A | Title: Priority Order
Objective: Managing a difficult audience. TM. A handled several challenging audiences professionally, and her presentation on psychology was intriguing.

TM. N shared how we should spend the rest of our lives with five things she wants to do, offering a persuasive message based on her experience as a YTMC member.
She introduced the term “SKI” (Spending the Kids’ Inheritance). We should embrace the idea of enjoying life together with our family!

A lovely story about her memorable food experience in the southern part of the U.S., specifically New Orleans with “Crawfish.” I also thought this is disgusting to eat, but after hearing her speech, I also wanted to go there and taste spicy Crawfish!

Based on her experience supporting foreign travelers in Japan, TM. T highlighted the importance of personal support over the convenience of smartphones.

Next, we moved to the Evaluation Session. The General Evaluator was TM. A.

She mentioned that there is no teacher in Toastmasters, and all members evaluate each other. This style is a standard practice globally in Toastmasters. (She laughed after making this comment, considering her occupation as a schoolteacher)

Good Points: Professional speech starting with a question, excellent body language and vocal variety. Good usage of English!
Improvement Points: Title could be more tactful, and the closing should be more impactful.
